Has anyone ever heard of Matthew Reilly's HOVER CAR RACER? It was released as an online novel over the course of a few months this year, but it will get released as a hardcover on November 5th (I think, stores may already have it).
It's about a 14-year-old kid who drives a hyperspeed Formula 1 hover car at up to 810km/h and includes some really cool racing concepts like a Gate Race (going through gates ives you points, racer with the most points wins), Last-Man Drop-Offs (last-placed car eliminated) and Short-Course Match-Racing (two cars head-to-head around a short track which you win by lapping your opponent or completing 100 laps in 1st).
It might be aimed at the Harry Potter Generation, but it's still fun.
