While everyone else on this forum is asking for miniscule and petty things from PD (OMG FIX THE PIXELATION ON THE WING OF THE 11TY SKYLINES EVEN THO I DRIVE WITH THE BUMPER CAM)

No one asks the real questions. Like... why is the game missing some of the greatest race tracks in the world???

Road Atlanta
Sebring
Road America
Lime Rock
VIR
Silverstone
Spa
Bathurst

I could go on and on and on. But, it seems like everyone here is nitpicking the most asinine stuff ever when the larger things are being overlooked.

No true class racing? Great we have Super GT cars, why isnt there a combined GT500/GT300 race championship. Same goes for all the GT and LMP cars. Wheres the LMP1/LMP2/GT1/GT2 races that are restricted. F1 championship with ACTUAL F1 cars. Yay we have the F2007 and F10, oh wait all I can do is practice runs and online runs with it. BORING.

Its hard to simulate racing when you have a 700HP Castrol Toms Supra running around Grand Valley.

Yea, this game is pretty f'n sweet, but damn some MAJOR things were missed. Who cares if cars are "standard", I bet the majority of people dont even see the outsides of these cars when they play the game!

I'm sure I read somewhere that it takes PD 6 months to create a track for GT so that would explain the lack of new tracks in the game.

As for F1, Codemasters have an exclusive licence to make a Formula 1 game, if GT5 had two different F1 cars i.e a Ferrari F10 and a McLaren MP4/25 racing on the same track then legally speaking they've made an F1 game and they would find themselves with a court case to answer to.

It's a shame that people aren't able to understand this despite the 100s of threads where this is explained. Same with Porsche. It just isn't going to happen unless someone forks out a massive amount of money, or license owners say ah fark it, go ahead we don't mind.

As for more tracks, I agree with the OP, they should be able to churn out a few more real world tracks soon.

I know, I must have posted this fact about a hundred times about the F1 licence but since the OP is a new member I was a bit nicer with my reply than usual, but yeah, it's a pretty simple concept to understand and the reason why there is only one F1 game available.

Tracks, yes.

A lot more. Although course sharing and online somewhat makes up for the small number of tracks, it isn't a real substitute for some of the greatest racing tracks found IRL.

So many cars, so few tracks...

To the non big racing enthusiast i'd expect only 2 of those tracks to actually possibly be known by the everyday average joe in europe or asia.

Silverstone
Spa

And while i agree with some of your choices, the game does have some legendary and famous tracks already.

Circuit de la Sarthe
Nurburgring
Monza
Laguna Seca

I would love more tracks but i'm not gonna complain, the game is out. If theres one track were likely to get with DLC then i'd expect that to be Spa.

Love threads like these lol. Good luck getting anything cool from PD!

You buy Gran Turismo and you complain that there is no F1 championship in the game. Errrr.... Oooooo-kay...

Tbh i think some of the greatest tracks missing from the game were made my PD themselves. For example SSR11. I know most people love spa, but I would rather have SSR11 in the game (or as DLC/Update) than any of the tracks you mentioned... Tbh thats probably one of the easiest to add to the game as half the track already exists in Clubman Route 5 and Special Stage Route 5.

But back on topic, any new tracks would be awesome, but as said above, you will probably have to wait a few more months before some new tracks, if any, are released.

Some pointless threads I have found about nitpicking BS...
Just a few examples....

These may seem pointless to you, but someone thought they were important enough to mention. If you look at the whole picture, there are a LOT of problems with GT5 and the forum is the place to "air your grievances". What's wrong with others voicing their opinions?

I totally agree with a LOT of what you said in your initial post. The lack of tracks, the lack of class racing, both of these are major disappointments! PD failed horribly in those areas! However, I also think having "standard cars" is a MAJOR problem as well considering we are all using a high def PS3 to play a game that contains standard def PS2 designed cars. Remember, there's no cockpit view and there are other restrictions on the standard cars. That might not be important to you but it certainly is important to me and apparently others. It's just wrong! Also, the lack of proper damage within a game that is supposed to be a "driving simulator" is yet another MAJOR disappointment. Another is the fact that the vast majority of the cars included in GT5 are mediocre at best and the amount of redundant models included for certain manufacturers just seems ridiculous.

Another gripe of mine was the way they implemented NASCAR. They might as well have left it out completely. Why did PD even bother to waste their time and effort on this considering what they've included in the game? What the heck were they thinking? Also, for those that like the F1 stuff, great. I don't think PD did a good job with that either. I do understand that there is a licensing issue with F1. Given that, why did they even bother? They included (2) F1 model Ferrari's in the new car dealership that cost a small fortune yet they can't even be used in A-Spec or B-Spec. You can practice with them, WOW! In my opinion they should have left out F1 completely and concentrated on other areas. Other developers have done F1 much better than PD. If you like it why not buy a game dedicated to bringing you the entire F1 experience instead of the butcher job PD has done with it?

For a game that took 6 years to develop, GT5 is really lacking in some major areas. Yes, there are good things about GT5, but some of the most basic things you expect out of a "driving simulator" are completely lacking or done half a$*ed.

The point of my post is that others have valid grievances with GT5 and a right to post their opinions. Whether you agree with them or not does not matter. It's important to them so why belittle them for starting threads to post their opinions? What seems pointless to you may very well be important to someone else.

FYI, I've read through multiple threads discussing the lack of tracks (including one asking what tracks you would like to see added to the game) and lack of class racing on GTPlanet. So those "real questions" are being discussed by others. Take some time and wade through the older threads. They are out there and some of your opinions are shared by others. :)

I still think sony missed a trick around about 2007-2008, if they had put large amounts of money into gt5 and kept the f1 license but only for use in gt5 and they given them a team to model the f1 tracks and eventually cars for the season of release they could have finished off every racing game there and then. Just think about it if PD had done that it would have ended any debate about best racing game and it would have takens f1 2010s sales as it wouldn't exist. Other things like buying le mans licensing, gt1 and gt3 could have also made gt5 even bigger.

I think the problem was that sony new gt5 would always make money, so why invest in it?

well if they had invested big time not only would it give far greater sales of both ps3s and gt5 itself but as a long term investment it would ensure that gt5 stays at the top for longer because if I'm honest I can't see gran turismo being the best racing game in 5 years time as I think both shift and forza will have court it up on console and anyone who wants pure sim would then go to pc.

I very much doubt that Formula One Management would have allowed their product to be used as a Gran Turismo sideshow. Sony had the F1 licence for years, yet there was never any real F1 cars in any GT, that would lead me to believe that FOM sells the licence on the condition that it's an exclusive standalone F1 game it's used for which promotes the sport of F1 to the maximum.

Bathurst............snip

That is the number one thing for me, the shortage of tracks (and lack of A-Spec events). Especially tracks from previous games, you all know them, but in particular I miss El Capitan.

Bathurst is maybe not as world reknown as others like Spa, but it is world class, and many Euro and American drivers come over for the Bathurst 1000 and 12 and 24 hours. When you get up on top of the mountain, heading towards Skyline, and all you can see is sky, a newbie wets their pants. The charge down the other side is enough to tighten anyone's sphincter. Then there's Conrad straight, all downhill with a hump in the middle that makes the car all light and scary.

Anyway, if you don't know what Bathurst is, do yourself a favour and google it.

Yager Performance - 41st to 3rd in three laps - this is a (modern) classic car race (cars are from the 60's). The star car is an XY GTHO Phase III Falcon (Australian made, fastest 4-door in the world at the time)

The Greenstuf XE Incident 1983 XE Falcon, last of the 351 V8s. Turn the sound up.

There are thousands of more recent and higher quality vids on youtube for Bathurst, but these are just some of my favorites. This track has history back to the sixties. Honestly, just listen to those awesome V8s, on that track. Video footage has the funny effect of making everything look flatter (or less steep) than it really is. Bathurst has incredible elevation changes for a 6km track.

Yeah, I'd like to see more tracks like what you listed.

Hopefully a DLC will bring those tracks.

Maybe slightly off-topic here, but you know what?
I think Eiger Nordwand was intended to be a substitute for El Capitan.

Tarmac variation + 3 "inner" dirt (trail) variations:

- El Capitan
- Cathedral Rocks Trail I
- Cathedral Rocks Trail II
- Cathedral Rocks Trail III (only in GTPSP)

versus

- Eiger Nordwand Short Track
- Eiger Nordwand K Trail
- Eiger Nordwand G Trail
- Eiger Nordwand W Trail

Perhaps we may see it again in the future.

I understand that Sony doesnt have an F1 license, same as they dont have a Porsche license.

Supposedly, EA holds the Porsche license. But Forza isnt made by EA, they have P cars.

Its surprising that SONY wouldnt pony up the cash to have the licensing to all of the F1 cars.

Oh well, this game is an enigma.

This has been brought up dozens and dozens of times. Either EA wanted too much money for the license, or they wouldn't give it to PD at all. Perhaps PD didn't even want it for some reason. They chose to sell rights to T10. Not much else to it.

Codemasters owns the rights currently after Sony allowed their licensing rights to expire. Based on this: http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=34508 the license was costing $15 million a year, and that number was set to rise. That's a lot of money to pay year after year to include a race series that isn't the primary focus of the game in my opinion.

I think new tracks/circuits is up there on the feedback (with yourt 25 votes) area wish list.

Spa
Mont Tremblant
Watkins Glen
GillesVilleneuve

Happy they at least put in Laguna Seca; but I am sure we all have our favourites that are missing in action. :)

If you haven't used your feeback votes yet; what are you waiting for :dopey:
