How am I supposed to live with that?

Today, I was on the Super GT website, and found out that my favorite team, GoodSmile Racing, had won the GT300 championship.

On that same day, IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon died.

Remembering a team's maiden win is a great thing, but the death of a driver (albeit not directly related) is not; how am I as a racing fan supposed to live with that?
 
You're posing the question of an existential crisis over racing. . . on an internet forum?
 
It's... a thought. That's illegal?
 
Was it meant to point out the irony of a name like "GoodSmile", given the circumstances?

You deal with it the same way everyone else does. You move on. You do that because life goes on.

Imagine Chip Ganassi, Wheldon's former employer and owner of the car that "won" the championship yesterday.

Imagine Susie Wheldon who has just lost her husband, and her children who have just lost a father.
 
I don't usually care much when famous people pass away. It's something that happens. I reserve my sadness for those close to me. Either way...

In the movie X-Men: First Class, it gave Magneto the most powerful emotion to focus his power when combining the feeling of loss with happiness.

Let me know if you develop telekinesis or telepathy :-)

The original post, my post, and the post I was replying to were all about the mixed feelings caused by something great being combined with something tragic. Where does your post fit in there? I don't think anyone was implying that Franchitti or Ganassi had it worse than the Wheldon family, but thanks for taking it there anyway.

I was putting the posts into perspective, Dario and Chip Ganassi care more about losing a friend than any championship now.
 
I think you should concentrate on remembering and respecting Dan first. IMO, despite having never watched Indycar, his death is a more significant event than Goodsmile Racing winning the 2011 title.
