How big is GT Academy in your country? Here is the list.

How many people from each country have been trying GT Academy?*
(*Provided that the official "Average Gold" statistics is [number of golds]/[number of players])

By taking the official statistics from the GT Academy site and dividing number of gold by average gold I got a rough estimate of the number of people from each country who has tried GT Academy. The numbers are not exact, because the statistics only counts the average down to one decimal (ex 8.1 instead of 8.13725, which would have given a more exact number). The marigin of error is 0,3%.

Also, one more thing to keep in mind is that some people downloaded and ran GT Academy from accounts in other countries than the one they're living in, because at the time GT Academy was not available in the PSN stores of all countries.

There are also some countries that doesn't have a PSN of their own, like Estonia and pretty much all of Africa for instance, and they may use accounts registered in other countries (like Finland or South Africa).

Where is the list?

China doesn't have PSN on the mainland so Hong Kong is my region and they were 8th (highest participants) last time I checked.

Using population data from the CIA world factbook, I divided the number of participants with the number of people living in each country. For instance, in Portugal 1 of 470 people have tried GT Academy. If you go out on the streets of Lissabon and ask everyone you meet if they have tried GT Academy, you'd get 1 yes for every 470 people you ask. For India it's 1 of 50 million, you're very unlikely to ever find someone there.

I would have probibly worked off the total registerd logins who made an attempt and then devided by the % of total players as stated by what rating the country came in as to their possition on the country board if I understood how PD showed the country ranking by total players. I'm sure your #'s are a good indicator though. Good Job 👍
 
Too bad i can't try the Academy though, because of the damn YLOD!! If i still have a chance to use my ps3 again there will be one more user from Thailand region ( i'm actually from Laos ).
 
After this threat, I think i´m better thank i thought xD 39º in Portugal and 1st DS3 time in my country :D

Still think i can do a 1.31.7XX... but knowing that's not enough to go threw the next round

Does anyone can inform me, why Japan, Canada, Finland or Hong Kong cannot participate to the competition? Is it a NISSAN-SONY marketing strategy or what?

Well I know that Canada has some kind of law preventing them from being able to participate and Finland was part of the 2013 competition. As for Japan and Hong Kong, I have no clue.

Interesting to see that Spain and Portugal have the most GT academy popularity ratio - maybe thats why they chose southern spain to present GT6
 
Only 14! from where I am.

No wonder that i only met one guy who is as interested in GT series as I am!
so I'm always P1 over 14 participants that's sad :rolleyes:
 
Can someone provide information on what law is preventing Canadians from competing in GT Academy. I would like to investigate this. There is a lot of great talent here in Canada and we are 12th overall. It is a shame and we Canadians can not participate because our politicians have there own agendas.

Hm... the competition seems quite a bit larger here than I thought. I need to practice a lot more it seems. :P

My understanding - In Canada there are laws about contests and the Province of Quebec (in Canada) has different laws than the rest of Canada so no GT Academy contest Zut alors!
