When I first bought a pc some 5 years ago It came with a 14" monitor. First thing I did was buy a 17" because virtually every message board was only readable if I sideways scrolled. Now I find some boards such as the planet are fine except when I go to read a post and I'm sideways scrolling again.

Is it the board programmed for a 19" perhaps? and is there anything I can do my end to avoid it without buying another monitor?

I don't know if this will help but you can change the font by holding ctrl and scrolling wheel on your mouse up and down. (might be different for you)

I just found out also if I hold shift and scroll with the mouse wheel I can go back and forth on a web page.

I have a 17" and its fine for me. :odd:

I only have to scroll sideways when some **** posts a huge screenshot and doesn't thumbnail it.

Same here.

I have a 19200x1200 monitor anyway so I rarely have to.

Ah resolution, forgot about that.

Got it sorted now, Just had it as I wanted some time ago and never needed to alter it till now having reinstalled windows a couple of weeks ago.

1024*768 and dpi at 120% with text increased one notch seems to be as I want it cheers.

My friend had a problem like this with his widescreen monitor. He had the screen resolution on a setting that was too big, so he had to scroll sideways despite it being a widescreen monitor. It's sorted now i think.

That's what i was thinking. Too many zeros i think :sly:

GT, i thought you had a laptop? Max sized standard screen for a laptop is about 17 inch isn't it? I have a 17 inch montor that can't reach that higher res, how does your laptop? Or do you have an external screen?

Dell Inspiron 8600, 15'7 inch 1920x1200 screen. It was expensive but my Dad (and me) love it.
