I had a friend tell me it was possible to create an offline account. Once you do this you can back up your game save data that belongs to an online account to this offline account. When I gave it a try it didn't work. I'm probably missing a step so I really need your help. Also, does the psp game save data come into play? I don't have a psp device.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you want to backup your save, you should be able to do it with a USB drive.

Other way about.

Gamesaves are locked to PS3 account and PSN account. This means that any gamesave you have can only be transferred to another PS3 if you login to the console with the same PS3 account name and to the same PSNID associated with it.

If you create a gamesave on a PS3 account that has no PSNID (what you term "an offline account"), you can transfer it to any other console with only the same login name. If you wish, you can then create a PSNID for that account (what you term "an online account") and the gamesave will be useable.

No. GT5 is a PS3 game, not a PSP one.

You can go to your main game, select the savedata and choose an destination.
This can be USB, the PS+ cloud or this can be another account on the same PS3!
You CANNOT use the save on the other account, but it can just function as storage place.

The account you transfer it to, should be a dummy account, as it cannot play GT5 AND host as backup for your main account.

Cheers

Thank you very much Famine for explaining the difference in the two types of accounts.

Outeke, My friend must have only used the backup for storage. I didn't know that I couldn't use the backup. It makes much more sense now after reading both of your posts.

Thanks again!
