How did they balance Paris?

So, I was watching the Paris highlights (below) and it struck me that the cars are from completely different N classes yet, they are almost perfectly balanced against each other.

How the heck did they do that and why isn't GTS like this? Can't we get some sort of setting to balance the cars like this????

I saw the same mismatched BoP as they had in previous events and I wouldn't be surprised if they had weak slipstream on to try and hide it. Add in drive trains jumbling up tyre wear and gearing that seems to get neglected when car's get BoP'ed, I'd say no, they wasn't balanced very well. The N300 race was just as bad.

Good fun watching the eclectic car choice races but once you see the difference in the car's attributes, heavily flawed. I find it very hard to take the Nations Cup seriously when they use this format.

Commentating is a real skill! Fantastic!

Really? It didn't look all that bad. The old 911 is N300, no? it's on track with N600's and it seemed to do better than I would have expected. How did the car choice happen? I can't imagine anyone choosing an N400 Jag when the Merc was available.

Don't forget that this is a game created and programmed by people so they can do what they want if they want to and already know what the outcome will be if needed .

I'm also curious about how the car choice happens?
Who decides first ? Can you take the same car than someone else ?

And I agree, considering the diversity of cars, with a wide range of original power, weight and age, they were well balanced.

How the heck did they do that
Race specific BOP (which absolutely should be a thing in GTS; no point having the cars doing the sameish hotlap pace across a variety of tracks - they need to reach the finish line of that specific race together, tyre wear and all) and tuning (155mph sequential gearbox, LSD on the E-Type and 250GT).

996 and 997 are N400.

Drawing of lots.

The simple answer is that they didn't. 7 lap races between drivers of this calibre usually shouldn't result in one driver winning by over 4 seconds, especially when the 2nd place driver in both cases also had a gap to 3rd. I will say that PD at least made an attempt in the N500 race, using last years live event results to exclude cars that were too weak or too strong. But I'm not sure they even tried at all in N300.

What if they would have all the cars have the same physics and just have a different look for events like this? So everyone would basically be racing the same car with a different look.

That is brilliant. I would LOVE this approach. We load a track, choose a class, and the game gives us a selection of cars to suit, or adjusts BoP to better match the car's entered.

I'm sure there is a way to make a too that automates a hot lap in order to set the car selection. Have each car, run each track, an each tire, with an AI driver on base settings to get lap time results and then go from there. That should give a pretty good approximation of balance.

They already use AI to set BoP. You see how well that works now.

It desperately needs to be introduced but PD seem to want to follow the same blind BoP algorithm they use for Gr cars, where it works reasonably well. Foolish really as they know as well as anyone how much the N classes vary.

Exactly. The only way Nations Cup can be a true Nations Cup is with one make races, maybe even in Vision cars so the game still gets showcased. I'd even pay to watch them racing in the Copen VGT. They would be epic races.

Let the driver's decide who's best on the day, not the cars. They're the manufacturer's domain.

I think the point he's making is that current BoP settings are measured against all tracks which creates track/car specific META picks for every race. If BoP was based on each individual track these variances would be minimized.

YES. This exactly. Obviously the BoP we have isn't very useful.
