How do I get better/faster at Road Course racing?

I believe I'm a decently well-rounded driver, but my oval track skills have always greatly outweighed my road racing skills. I want to achieve the platinum trophy in Gran Tursimo 7 next year, and I believe sharpening my road racing skills will help with that immensely. Any suggestions?
 
Practice practice practice.
Also drive with all assists off since they only slow you down.

Make sure and use all drive layouts (RR,MR, FR, FF, AWD) on various tracks.

Do free run/time trials and consistently try to beat your ghost - that alone will sharpen your skills no end.
