I have a HP Pavilion laptop with a TV tuner card that came with a converter cable so I can hook up to things using the red/yellow/white cables. I have my Playstation2 plugged into these cords. I don't know if I need to buy something more, download something or just look harder. I searched the computers thread and they said that some kind of adapter is needed to achieve good quality, but that is for a monitor.

Anybody have ideas?

For starters, try some sort of recording software just to make sure that you are recieving a picture and sound signal successfully from the PS#. Windows Movie Maker or VirtualDub would do the trick (they're free), or you could take your chances with the software that came with the card.

You'd likely not want to use these programs for actually playing your PS# through the laptop - I'm sure there's other software available for that, but I don't know names.

Media Player Classic allows you to stream video and audio from a capture device. I don't use it for that myself, but a friend of mine has played PS2 with it before -- and although he told me that MPC would gradually lag more and more behind real-time, and that restarting the program was the only way to fix it, his computer is quite old and slow by modern standards. You might have better luck (and the solution isn't that hard to do). Besides, MPC is free, and handy to have as a media player.

I haven't found any other free programs that are better.

I downloaded both of those programs you gave me, BL, but both give me a screen that is very flickery. The picture is black and white, and flickering like a TV when a VHS goes bad. I'll post a picture up here in a minute.

Is the capture card set to the ntsc standard?
Maybe it's set to PAL input.

I have a US computer and US versions of the games. Or do I have to fiddle with the settings?

And here is what I see in both programs:

ah, DScaler... forgot about that. Its a good program 👍 That's probably what you want to use, or something similar.

Looks like the video format is set incorrectly in that picture. I've seen similar by setting the incoming to the wrong type of NTSC signal.

I can select between two NTSC formats, a bunch of PAL formats and some of another type. None of them fix the picture, and when I select either of the two NTSC options, I get an error message and nothing happens. Do I want one of these NTSC options, and how would I get them?

um... I don't think you shouldn't have to do anything other than click on them...

What is the error message, exactly?

If you haven't done so, install the latest drivers/software associated with your tuner card.
