Hey guys, so I just got GT5 and i'm doing the Sunday Cup :dunce: and whenever I complete a lap or do a sector time, I get a little audible *beep*. It's really starting to piss me off and i'm only on my first event!

Help me, how do I turn it off?

I don't think you can... Hasn't been bothering me though :O

If you're using a controller and push down the left stick while turning, it will honk the horn. Could that be it?

Oh wow, I swear i'm not that intolerant. It just seems really noticeable to me, and I was playing GT5 at my mates place the other day and I didn't notice it on his system. Maybe its got something to do with the stereo i'm playing it through?

I have kind of the same problem. it makes the same noise as my phone when the battery is empty, so every now and then i get confused over this.
In two weeks i will not notice my cell battery is empty. LOL

Nah its not the horn, its a tone to indicate you've passed a timing mark, like a sector or lap time. I'm noticing it less and less the more I play, but its still pretty annoying, wish I could turn it off.

It's definitely there, occurs at the end of every sector. I don't think it is necessary and it annoyed me to begin with. I desparately wanted to turn it off. However, now I've got used to it. I wonder why they felt the need for it.

Go to options and turn it off.

Try the menu option first.

I turned off all sounds but race and replay sounds.
I do not here the beep.

Either its turned off for me or i don't notice it anymore. Have closer/more intense races and you likely won't notice it either if you're concentrating on trying to win. ;)

Haha, funny thread.

I like the beep because it makes me know when to glance up and check my time

Unfortunately a lot of those timers are at the optimum time to be looking at the track (corner entry), not away from it.
Iv'e taught myself to notice if it's red or aqua and not to be concerned with the actual time.

The beep doesn't annoy me personally but the slight freeze I get as I cross the line is rather distracting. Anyone else get this?

Just destroy your hearing by playing in an amateur heavy metal band for 10 years and like me you won't even know it exists!!

I've never heard it at all

Yes I get the pause.
It's the same as the GT Academy TT, I thought they would have fixed this issue.
With all the tearing and I don't know what to call it (weird armco drawing among others) it can be quite distracting.

GT5 Prologue has nicer looking tracks during game play for sure and something was lost in GT5.
GT5 is certainly lacking in the polished state that is the GT series.
I even tried 720p and besides looking a lot more blocky, the track edges (armco, etc) were much more acceptable, but the overall appearance was worse than GT4 at 1080i.
Unfortunatly the more premiums cars on track the worst the game play looks.
It's sad for me because I have no need for premium cars if the game play has to suffer so much.
I use the bumper cam and this is a big let down for me.
Maybe this has to do with Kaz's excuse (Flexible camera angles and “dynamic and wide-area lighting needs” are to blame for the sometimes blocky shadows. Yamauchi admits they are a problem and wants to improve them.), maybe not, all I know is something is amiss for sure.
It seems the photo mode and interior views are more important to PD than actual game play.

I hope the individuals that wanted premiums are happy because this seems to be the reason for such poor game play.
And don't get me started with the online jumping fest with cars jumping here then there.
I needed about a 50' buffer to make sure of no contact and there were only 2 of us that live under a 100 miles apart.
Why bother?
Please PD we need LAN support.

Rant over!

I didn't know it beeped. But thanks.... now that i know this its gonna be the only thing i hear

I share some of your concerns about the graphics, but I feel refreshingly reassured by Kaz's comments, and I actually have faith in them fixing them to the best of their ability. Quite unlike F1 2010, but that's another story :P

Ah thank you. I had the same issue with the sector time bleeps, tried a couple of options in the audio menu didn't seem to work and let it slide, but it is there indeed.

Turn off Menu Sound Effects, and your sector-time bleep is gone. (as well as all the other menu sounds, but that's a price I'm willing to pay. :) )
