How do I turn off the Ghost?

I've looked around and I can't seem to find or work this out. The ghost car causes massive fps drops when it passes me.

So pretty simple, is there a way to turn off the ghost so that I can remove this issue? Even without the fps drop I find it to be a big distraction.
 
Go to options, change controller settings, assign a button for ghost, I set mine on R2 :D
 
It's assigned to D-pad up, as standard 👍.
