Was wondering this, as I don't actually play online at all.

I've been through the etiquette things and I've been in the waiting lobby, but never actually participated.
I'm just not good enough to compete, so I choose to stay out of the way and not spend the race getting
in people's way and causing unnecessary accidents etc

So I've been playing the game offline the whole time, which i have found to be pretty great, but was wondering
if the money/mileage points/experience etc I receive from completing the things i complete are limited in
abundance, compared to doing a race online - even to finish last ?

I am trying to amass a reasonably small fortune, to buy a few cars and also upgrade a few with the mileage points
I am building up. Am I better to just bite the bullet and race online, even if I just try to keep out the way and finish
last every time ? Can I earn millions from an online race, compared to thousands from an offline race ?

Short answer, yes. 👍

Well of course you can, but not in a single race within a reasonable time.

Racing online is just, well, more fun. The AI in offline races are not really a challenge and after you've done the offline bit it will be repetetive racing.

Online is rarely, if never, repetetive.

I was also sceptical to online racing in GTS as I always preferred offline in Gran Turismo's earlier, but i've given it a shot and I getting the hang of it. :P

Excellent stuff, thank you for the fast reply !
I'll get right at it then :)

Get online as soon as you can or you'll run the risk of getting bored of the game before you experience the best part. You'll get matched with people of similar skill. You'll make plenty of mistakes, but you'll learn quicker racing against real people.
The original campaign mode (not gt league) awards exp., milage, and credits as well as cars for each row of medals. It also teaches some techniques for improvement.
Purely for credits/exp., gt league or custom races provide the most rewards

Im also considering the online part since the AI is giving more a lot of frustration. They are just like the other online players i remembered from GT6.

The most rewarding part of online racing is to get into an online lobby that has like minded racers.

I'm 70 & belong to the Geezers Club (started in GT6). We have numerous people over 60 who love racing & GT.

There's usually 1 of us who will open a lobby & we meet there (we're also in a chat room).

Races are normally 1 make with no tuning & we try to race as CLEAN as possible & we have a lot of laughs & fun.

Thanks everyone, for the detailed info and encouragement!
Also, that's excellent that there's an over 60s only club out there. Have a great time!

I had NEVER raced online before GTS! Didn't have the time or resources lol. Now I can't wait to get back out there. Recently took myself offline due to purchasing a wheel and stand. Got to practice, practice, practice a little while longer before I see you guys back out there.

Qyn
I had NEVER raced online before GTS!
I did, and i had very mixed games, some were excelent, some were horrible. But in my experience, it only took 1 car to be able to disrupt an entire race. And its not the only game i played which had such issues. So on that i did build some anti PvP mentality. Some games i dont care (mainly the ones which you can solo in and dont allow players to grief you with unsportive behaviour - FPS games). But that anti PvP mentality caused me to wait to go online in GTS, especialy as there are a lot of cases in which people complain about unsportive behaviour.

And yes i know, those are exceptions, but 1 spoiled game is enough to cause the earlier 2 hours of fun to go away at an instant. Which is why i want to be sure the penalties are first in a good state to be sure that once i got to a decent rank, i can be sure to have fun, and when it goes wrong, that i also can be sure it was a real accident.
