i always find it hard to drive in the rain, im especially having trouble with the minolta on the 'SuperGT' event, even though its tuned, got wet rain tyres on and power lowered to 700hp i just cant get beyond the first few bends(suzuka circuit) without dropping to 12th and with AI bashing me when i spin, i give up before the first straight.... Bob did it no problems with the full 900 odd hp it maxes at...

Are you using much throttle control when driving? Because you can't just floor the pedal and hope you keep going forward. You've got to take it careful.

So keep it a bit easy on the gas pedal would be my advice.

Power is just nothin´without control ;)
Teach your right foot a bit of self-control. It´s just a thin line between having enough grip on wet and totally lose control within an eyelash.

Try to drive with the "all-earlier" mod. Braking, shifting, throttling, name it. Sure you will have enough grip on racing wets, but it´s still far away than pushing hard on dry surface.

Switch to manual transmission mode, and use higher gears to accelerate.

Or, stay in automatic, and gear your car as tall as you can. This reduces the torque you can get to the ground, helping you to prevent wheelspin.

You can do the gearing trick with just the lower gears, too.

Yes whenever the wheels start to spin shift up, or shift up around the middle of the power curve so the wheels wont spin.

Try a NASCAR on Comfort Hards in the rain:ouch:

That being said, if using manual, never going below 3rd gear really helped me..

Like the rest have already said short shifting and feathering the throttle is the key to driving in the rain. I'm struggling myself with the really powerful cars. Using a DS3 gives you limited throttle control. Another thing is braking. Earlier and smoother than in the dry. if you're a little late and slam the brakes you'll fly right off the track.

Rain tires give less grip than racing softs. Also, maybe try using a car with less power if you're having trouble controlling it in the rain. A GT500 car will win that series easily, and they're much easier to handle in my opinion.

Not sure if anyone knows this but instead of reloading the race just wait . When your at the screen where you can tune your car and it shows the track and it's raining just wait about 5 to 10 min at the weather will change .

cheers for replies...

just some pointers:

1. use pad not wheel although i own one.
2. only ever use manual.
3. i used a tune off here for a particluar event which worked well(if alittle hairy on the nurb).

i did try entering corners slowly, but seems with a slight bit of throttle it just starts to kick the back out when exiting... i only use race tyres, softs if its a race car/RM/Touring otherwise mediums...

thing is ive done certain weather tracks with similar powered cars(less than 700hp or 800hp) online with only brakes and ride height adjustment and once ive put raing:wet tyres on its gripped and handled better and theses wernt race cars lol..

are you using the default mapping on your DS3? i use a DS3 also, and because throttle control is nearly impossible with the X button, i remapped my controls to this:
throttle on R2 (also with an R2 extension clip, can be found at Walmart, etc)
brake on the Triangle button.

R2 still provides only limited throttle control... the DS3 just isn't designed for such incremental usage, but it's SOOO much better than the button. after remapping my driving skills went from 2/10 up to maybe 7/10 in no time.

Great idea, I'll give this a shot tonight.👍

Drive like on the dry just slower and more conservatively
-longer breaking zones so you don't lock up the breaks.
- only accelerate after the turn
- don't accelerate to hard.
-make clean shifts
-short shift like a mad man

To add to what has already been said:

TCS set around 5 (as Chris Harris says: I use it because it's helpful), and avoid the slippery bits on the track. I usually run deeper and wider into a corner, get the turning done as fast as possible, straighten the car and then give it the beans.

Driving in the rain is pain, with a wheel it's much more enjoyable and I find myself to have far better throttle control.

The DS3 is rather useless for driving games :(

Remap your break to L2 too. You will find it easier.
