How do you drag race in this game?

I'm very interested in doing this,I've gone into a couple of rooms to observe and all I see is cars driving around the various tracks. How do you line cars up,start a race etc because I'm sure there is no Christmas tree or a starting line to stage the cars. I looked at most of the threads related to drag racing and haven't noticed any that explain how it is done.

Join an Indy room marked accordingly.
Observe from a distance initially, as lining up 3 wide will most likely get you kicked.
 
Very easy. At Indy go to the back stretch. Find someone to line up with, pull up when its your turn, hold the gas and brake. Wait for someone to ghost for you, when their car turns ghost, let go of the brake and go baby go.

Also, as a general rule, once your back tires "drop" off the black/yellow zone you are considered "on the line"

I'm in that video lol, got treed on that run but followed up with a tree of my own right after. Lots of good times on GT5 I'm going to miss them, rest in piece GT5.
 
I've watched the video and actually joined a room last night, still need to learn the etiquette involved as to who you line up to race with and how does the ghost car work? I tried to watch a lot,if I knew how to ghost I could start some races while I'm learning the ropes. It's obvious there's interest in this,I'm surprised that there's not a real drag strip in this game considering there has not been a drag racing game released in years. How about it PD?
 
to ghost you just have your car stopped and, holding the brake, press start. And, you can line up with whoever you want.

Love the sarcasm to someone just trying to learn... And when you are running someone just try to think in your head are these two cars around the same "speed" as in horsepower to weight ratio and driveterain? And you will quickly be able to find out which cars run with what.
