I'd rather members post just a few good settings in the depot without driver aids, than post 18 settings per day with the ASM cranked. :indiff:

Then when you get the settings for all them cars don't post the ones that require aids to be on.This way you are only getting real drift settings and not someone trying to look like they know how to drift.

If I use any aid to drift, I feel I'm cheating.

For racing in GT3 I only had TCS for the F1 car. Now in GT4 I need TCS for +700hp cars, but I still don't like it.

Ahahahaha, that was so random 👍,

personally i have no problem with people using driving aids, if they wish to be weak and want to gain no skill under these conditions

Driving Aids, 💡 , NO THANKYOU

I really don't care... Its there so why dont you use it...

it's only there for people who can't cope with the games physics with talent and ability alone. A physics dummying system, so to speak.

don't get me wrong, this has crossed my mind. But to turn away settings with aids is to say that a person's contributions are not welcome or appreciated - which is entirely untrue. The more settings the better.

However, I know you to be an avid settings requester - and a fair shake of your requests have been returned with AIDS on. What I think I may do in the future is get people to specify in requests if they are ok with recieving settings with aids on or not.
I expect most people want them off - anyone can make a car drift by turning up the ASM-U.

in the meantime what i have done is specified which settings do and do not have aids in the first post's settings listing in the Drift Settings Depot.

edit: infact, I am going to impose that. Seems like a smart idea.
from now in in the settings depot when requesting settings, please specify if you are alright with having aids on or not.
ok, off to go add that in to that thread.

They are there for people that are not very good at this type of game. Otherwise they would not like it. When drifting I keep all aids off. When in a race I turn TCS on a couple notches to conserve tires.

Well, I don't fully remember how ASM Understeer works since I havent used it in forever, but I don't consider driving aids to necessarily be a bad thing. Take ABS for example. Its a great racing feature, but it's an aid. And if used properly, can help greatly in racing. So do you think that just because it's an aid, you shouldn't use it?

i think of ABS to be more of a hinderance than help at times.
it would take more learning to learn the point of traction loss while applying brakes, this IMO helps you gain even more skill, and makes it more realistic. when have you seen a 70-80's car with abs? i havent seen many. i know they are out there, but they are very basic compared to todays abs.

I don't think there are any 70's cars with abs...maybe late 80's. I'd prefer you could turn it off too...make it a lot easier to get the back end out under braking instead of having to do inertial drift all the time.
As for aids, I can't stand them at all on any car. They completely mess up the feel for the car. I can't tell what my car is gonna do! I hate it when in the middle of a corner, all of a sudden it tugs to one side, straightens out, tugs again, straightens out...ugh. I'd rather learn how my car drives and learn to drive it than have to guess what the computer's gonna try to make my car do. Only aid I ever use is TCS, and only on cars with a lot of power and bad tires. But, in the same vein, if people want to use them that's fine with me, just don't come crying and complaining that you can't win the speedster cup or can't hold a drift through a corner :yuck:

I dont believe any car in the game requires aids to drift, with the possible exception of FF's (if you want to call that drifting).

i dont even feel you need aids for ff cars either. my civic type r has no aids and i can "drift" that car all day long.

theres no need for aids, i dont think theyre even good for beginners becuase u arent really learning much if ur having asm turned on or whatever, its better to just start right out with no aids or anything, just use good settings. my supra is the only car with tcs turned on just a lil but with 1000+ hp, its kinda necessary imo
