How do you [i]usually[/i] hold your steering wheel, when driving normally?

When driving normally, how do you usually handle your steering wheel?

This is obviously a left-hand drive diagram, you Japanese, Australian, Southern to South-Eastern African, Indonesian, Indian, Guyanan, Pakistani, Nepalese, Surinamese and British freaks may switch it in your minds.
 
Option b1 because I use the manu-matic mode a lot with my car. The wheel on the Mini is designed so you hand naturally holds it in that position, I suppose it was mad to make you feel more like a racecar driver.
 
I cant drive but when I kart my hands are at a 20 to 1 hands on the clock position when driving straight.

What I particularly like about the Mini, is that you're able to operate most buttons by extending your fingers whilst still holding the gear lever.
 
I often drive like C, just because it looks cool :lol: and is more natural for turning.

But, i also often drive like A1 only with my hand at 8 o'clock instead of 10 o'clock. That's for when i'm just feeling tired, or to make it easier to see my tachometer.
 
b1. The center console rest is perfect for my right arm even if I'm not shifting. The G35s steering wheel just feels perfect and 'right' in my left hand.

I've noticed this to, the only thing I can't do is change the radio station or the volume. Everything else is good though, including operating the climate control system.
 
It depends on where the air vents are. In most cars I drive b or somewhere in between b and a. On a PT cruiser, it's 4 and 8 o'clock, however. Chrysler is the weirdest carmaker ever.

Oh, and of course, it's c when reversing.
 
Right-hand at 3 o'clock
Left-hand at about 7 or 8 with my arm resting on my leg

I tried 3, but it felt pretty uncomfortable. Maybe it was because my seat was all the way back, but I think that goes hand-in-hand with that hand position.
 
Where is the option of knees on the bottom of the wheel? I need to talk on my cellphone and take sips from my latte too!?
 
I'm usually between A and B. I have better access to the shifters and steering wheel buttons in B, but I haven't driven in so long I don't really remember which I use.
 
I do everything (including some not listed), except that I only use C when backing up.

b1 When there is not much traffic and I feel relaxed. (This is against what I'v been thought :D)

I'm usually pretty close to a1. But on long drives I'll reverse it to give my left arm a break.
 
9-and-3 for me. If I'm on a long drive, I'll change it up every so often so that I don't cramp up my shoulders and neck.

If your shoulders and neck cramp up, maybe you should try to relax your driving position a bit.

You see this a lot with people new to racing, they tend to cramp up, holding on to the steering wheel for dear life. This makes you lock your elbows, stressing most muscles leading from your neck to your forearms. Make sure you relax your posture, and use the muscles in your forearms instead of moving your arms from your shoulders. The easiest way to do this is by keeping your arms relatively closely tucked to your body.

Generally, in racing terms, if you can't tuck your elbows into (at least) the top/front part of your sides, you're too far away from the wheel.

it's so that you can have control of a car when the airbag deploys. then agian i drive with my thumbs hung over the top support bar anyways so i don't give a rip.

If your airbag is deploying, you’re in the midst of a violent deceleration and your head is being tossed forward, which means you probably aren’t thinking about where to steer.

that is actually exactly what i was thinking that and the sudden change of speed and actual position of the car would probably confuse you, and you might actually cause more accidents.

When your airbag has decided to deploy, you're usually done with moving anywhere. You've most likely already done most damage, and have just stopped screaming. You may pass out now.

B1, so I can reach the turn signal stalk. the other hand is at about 2 o'clock, so I can grab the Column shift or run the wiper stalk. I've never had a Stick, btw.

I CANNOT drive in position C, it physically hurts to have my arm bent in that position. blinkin DCD

you've forgoten a position. my step father commonly drives one-handed at the 6 o'clock position
 
C. I like having one hand on the shifter so I can change at an instant, but keeping the hand up top prevents a left turn bias. And if I'm on a windy road/long drive, I have hands at 9 and 3.

B-1-> Whenever I'm relaxed, like driving +5 of the speed limit.

B-> Whenever things gets more exciting.

Other-> Either 5 (right hand) or 7 (left hand) o' clock one hand, when I'm relaxed driving -5 or at the speed limit.
