How do you make Enduro competitive

Specifically tire choice, PP, and type of car. I'm going to attempt the enduro races now that we have the save feature, free time is a premium for me. I don't care if I lose the event as long as its competitive. I raced a little of the Grand Valley 60 lap event last night. I set the PP number at the same as typical opponent with sport medium tires, but within 6 or so laps I had a ridiculous lead. I just want to know if there are quick guide lines to go by, so I don't have to keep detuning and starting over.

Use one of their cars, and keep it stock.. Ensuring the car is in the perfect league to race in a competitive manner.

I'm trying to do the same thing. Unfortunately the sad fact is the AI isn't really that good (at least not on A-Spec). This is compounded when you factor in events with variable weather, because the AI drive ultra-conservatively.

The first thing I would do is make sure you disable SRF, then use tires that are at least two grades less than the AI. In addition, go ahead and buy every single tire type for the car you're using. This way, if you find it's still too easy, you can put on even worse tires on your next pit stop.

I'm currently running Suzuka 1000km and using tires two grades lower than the AI as stated above. I'm still faster than the AI, but, my tires are running out much quicker, so I'm pitting more often - this was keeping things interesting, that is, until it started raining. Tire grip as it relates to a wet track definitely doesn't work as intended, as I was able to keep running on slicks even when the track was 100% wet and I began lapping 5-10 seconds faster than the AI, which completely blew up the competitive nature of the race. Not only that, but the wet track makes the slick tires last forever (I pit for fuel after 28 laps or so and my tire wear was around 50%)

I suppose I should artificially pit and put on wets to keep things closer, but once you keep handicapping yourself to keep things interesting, it just doesn't feel as 'fun' anymore.

Not using any driver aids except abs1, I don't remember seeing the tire grade when I checked the typical opponent window.

Use a Midget:D

Or as above, use lower grade tyres than the AI, or find a car that is slower than the AI, but can go longer between pit stops (Suzuki GSX-R/4 is good for the Nurburgring 4h)

Edit: To find out what tyres they use, do some of the race then watch the replay

Start with one of their cars or one that is equivalent PP. Drop 1 or 2 tire classes below theirs. Either drop 25-50hp(or more/less due to starting hp) or add 50-100kg ballast. Or you can pick a car that is already weaker/heavier of course.

Start the race. Don't build a lead, stay with the others and watch. If you're streaking past the cars you expect to race with quit and readjust. If it seems close or after adjusting, run "practice" for 15 minutes or so for traffic to sort itself out so you can see who the REAL opponent will likely be.

If it looks like a good fight, you'll probably want to quit and slow yourself a bit more since you'll likely get quicker as you get 'dialed in' over the race. You'll also gain if you don't full-fill, and while lapping traffic.

If you don't think you can run for hours without crashing, make yourself a few tenths faster than the rabbit. Unfortunately fuel/tire life will always be a gamble until you run a full stint.

Always bring better tires to switch to if needed. ;)

Use the Subaru Impreza touring car in the 1000km Suzuka endurance. Oil change, chassis reinforcement and racing softs.
I`m in the 40th lap and 20 seconds ahead, so for me this is a close race. I can drive 19 laps without problems but the 20th lap will cause me to lose 8 seconds or so because at that point the front tires are almost completely gone.
The AI leader will pit 7 times in total i think, i will need 8 pit stops.

The 4hr race at the Nürburgring Type V track is probably the best race in the game - long enough to allow tactics to unfold and close finishes, not so long you have to do it in installments. Myself, GTsail and a few other members have made a guide and our experiences and, specifically, our cars are logged for all to see.

This^ And drop the PP. Keep adjusting & re-starting until you battle to get & keep P1. Then race...

Surely it is not hard to program the AI to be competitive? Could not PD have at least programmed the game to assess, pre race, what car you are driving and then the AI cars are chosen according to the chosen car and the tuning?

Makes sense... if you're in a 24 hour race surely you want it to be a contest, at least for Aspec!

Just had a mental picture of a 24 hour race vs 11 other x2010's...a terrifying but tempting prospect!!!
