Do you pick the color that's already selected in the "thumbnail" for the car? E.g. Arancia Argos for the Aventador. Alternatively, when buying a different car from the same automaker, do you try to pick a generally different color? Like not just a slightly different color, e.g. two different yellows, but more like one silver, one white, etc.

Personally, I generally like to pick the "iconic" color. Like WR Blue for Subarus, Rosso Corsa for the Ferraris, or Championship White for a Honda Type-R model. But I also like to tinker with other colors, especially if there may not be an "iconic" coloring for a certain model, and especially if the color option colors in different things like the roof/pillars on the DB11, the wheels, or stripes like on the Ford GT. And especially if I'm a fan of a coloration a car isn't usually depicted in, like some of the other color options on the VGTs - especially the Chili Red/black stripes Mini VGT.

You pretty much described how I pick colors. Go with the iconic color or the color that creates a unique look.

Although I have no design skills, I'll try to create my own livery for Sport Mode, so doesn't really matter what color I buy. I dont buy many cars, with the daily workout free car, I try to only purchase the race cars and not much color choice on those anyway.

Sometimes I go with the "proper" color other times I will click through colors and see if there is one that I like. I have not learned to do custom livery yet but I wish you could keep the same sponsors and stickers on the race cars and just change the base colors.

My favorite color is green. Guess what? Not many green cars in the game(especially cars from Asia). To add, the shades of green are mostly, not to my liking(like the apple green Astons :yuck: ).

I've got the greyish green Supra, charcoal green Mustang GT and painted my Swift Sport, a lime green metallic(a factory color).

I tend to choose the colour which best suits the car, but I'm not averse to buying signature colours.

When I buy my first DB11, I'm choosing China Grey to get that wonderful yellow interior option.

It depends on my mood, usually I choose the color that appeals to me most.

ie. Nouvelle Blue Pearl on the '17 NSX NC1, Dark Purple Mica on the MR2 SW20...

Depends for me. It used to be in GT5/6 that I’d buy a car and go for a unique paint chip for my collection and then swap to a color I prefered the car to be in - now that’s not really a thing.

If I’m buying a car for the first time just for the sake of owning the car, I go for the color offering I happen to like the most at the time. Sometimes I go for for an iconic color, sometimes I go for an unconventional/less common color - regardless, it’s generally just what I find the most aesthetically pleasing.

If I’m buying a duplicate car, (usually) regardless of intentions of future liveries, I usually go for a color I haven’t bought/received the car in yet - example being the MX-5 - I’ve been awarded a white, black, and blue/silver version, and then bought a red one. If I have a livery plan with the car and I’m not using the manufacture paint I still follow this rule and the previous just in case my daily workout gives me a duplicate and I want to revert my copies back their original colors.

When I’m buying a car specifically to use it’s manufacture paint in the livery editor... then I’ve just explained it. I know I’ve done this with the Ferrari 512, but then found I needed to use some color “inversion” tactics to get the design to work the way I wanted, and I had to repaint it with a custom blue. There’ve been a few others but I can’t remember off the top of my head.

I dont choose white simply because it feels like the daily workout gives you white cars heaps... I got a slew of white Lambos and McLarens and Ferraris.

I usually take the fairly outlandish colours simply because its not what I'd do in real life.

Purple people eater 911 GT3? Sure.

Usually I'll look at the interiors too (white/dark seats depending on the paint color, etc...) as colors can be changed later in the livery editor.

I really don't like silver / metalic anymore (was my favorite paint when I was younger), don't really like black too... Mainly red/yellow/blue or white for me !

The absolute worst color a car can ever be. i'd take poop brown before white.
Good for you.

We have a livery editor. No car is going to stay white, or any other colour I pick, so I don't see the point in spending any decision-making thought process to what colour it should be when I buy it. Sometimes the interior panels might stay the original external body colour and white - or black - will go with whatever colour you want to put on the outside.

Depends on the car and what I think will look interesting on it. The other thing is I make sure they are all different because when I look at my garage specifically for the road cars, I want to see a variation of colors (spent a ton of Mileage points getting those paints in the mileage exchange every time new ones come up).

In order:
  • The most iconic colour for that car
  • The colour I like the most
  • A colour I've been neglecting for a while
And in the case of when I'm buying fleets of cars that have loads of liveries in my library, I cycle through each of them individually until I have one in every colour. If I have more liveries than cars I do it again, and so on.

I race in chase cam so don't care what color the interior is. It's generally what I'm feeling or what the car looks best in. But it rarely stays that color and virtually never returns to it.

We can't change interior colors...?

I always relate this color to my favorite Top Gear car.

As for my color choice, I don't have a specific one I can think of. Even my own car never was the same color. I usually go with one that I find fits the car best. As for liveries, I've been recently trying to respect the manufacturer colors on road vehicles and I do alternate versions for lighter/darker tones.

Colour pick is entirely random for me because I usually end up making a livery for the car with the editor before using it in any races.

I am starting to have a theme form in my garage of black cars though because I really like the colour and it makes any car in game look
good.

Normally though you will find me with a blue car or orange/white to reflect my favourite characters from video games Sonic and Tails.
