I have a theoretical/challenge question for you.

Let us assume that a driver must race a Mercedes AMG Gr.3 around Nurburgring GP with an automatic box (let us not enter in why, or manual vs automatic discussions). How do you set up the box to avoid changing in the middle of corners?

PS: without changing the differential.

Know your exit speeds for each corner (do a lap, rewatch it, note down your speeds at the exit) and look how important that Exit is. If there is relatively long straight after that exit, then its better to match your gearbox to that corner bc there is more to gain than in T1 to T3 (Nürb GP)

Then there are tracks like Suzuka where you have a lot of variety and cant possibly get the perfect gearbox. Its about compromise and which exits you judge to be important (personal factors), allow you to drive with less headaches (endurance) and what gains you time (one goal of tunes obviously).
