How does GT5 calculate game progress

Just completed the AMG special intermediate event with all silver to unlock two versions of the ring for practice and arcade. Noticed that my game progress is still at 10%. Does GT5 only consider gold for game completion purposes or is partial credit given for passing and perhaps silver as well?

Game progress is calculated by A-Spec, B-Spec and Licences. It does not work with Special Events, that's why it's not moved even with only a silver in the AMG academy events.

For the Gold Standard trophy (not 100% Game Progress) you need gold in everything offline - not seasonals of course, because they change every two weeks - so gold in Licences, A-Spec, B-Spec and Special Events. As far as progress is concerned, I don't know if only getting bronze or silver makes a difference - but I do know that if you complete all of National B licences at bronze your progress will advance - so I guess it is safe to assume that you could achieve 100% game progress without getting gold on every single event, but you wouldn't get the Platinum trophy (because of the Gold Standard trophy).

So, this is your answer, basically - Special Events do not affect game progress. In case the above bit has no relevance just ignore it and read this bit in bold.

I got 100% with GT1 and won the coveted 400R. After going through that, e.g., working on a single license test for hours and then missing gold by 0.001, I said never again ... :)

Thanks for answering my question on GT5 progress.

Have you tried to complete the tests in GT5 yet? I never used to do that well in previous games, but GT5's are a lot easier. The only things that really stand in the way of true 100% completion on GT5 are the pointless endurance and B-Spec grinding, the Grand Tour and the Vettel Challenge. No special in game reward though, just the platinum trophy...

I wouldn't class the enduros as being pointless, there is a significant percentage of the fan base that enjoys these, especially as GT5 has no truly long races in A-spec otherwise.

I do agree about the Vettel challenge, though I suppose there are those who like that kind of thing too.

the game only counts the number of trophies attained on the challenges for assessing the percentage of in-game completion so the color doesn't matter for aiming at completion of the rate to 100.

A couple of month's ago, I decided to try to determine how the game was calculating the completion percentage.

After starting five new game profiles, and assisted by Famine, I came to the conclusion that the game was granting completion percentages as follows:

License Tests:
--60 times 0.409667% = 24.58%

Individual races:
--164 times 0.41% = 67.24%

Championship Series:
--20 times 0.41% = 8.2%

Total percent = 100.02%

As iainoflo85 says above, only bronze is needed for each license test to get the completion percentage, and the Special Events do not affect game progress.

Each Championship Series (there are twenty) only grants 0.41% towards the completion percentage. It does not matter whether the Championship Series has three races, five races or six races (like the Formula GT Series), it still only grants 0.41% towards the completion percentage.

Each individual race (not in a Championship Series) grants the full 0.41%, so the Sunday Cup race at the Autumn Mini Ring grants the same completion percentage as the 24 hour races at La Sarthe or the 24hr Nurburgring race.

Interestingly (which initially made it difficult to follow GT5's calculation:banghead:), the game is not rounding up to the next percentage as you advance (for example, the game does not round up from say 9.8% and show 10%). The game will continue to show 9% until the full 10% is reached.:sly:

I only meant the B-Spec and the 24 hour endurance races are pointless, there's not really a challenge racing the AI and making the races longer doesn't change my opinion on that.

B-Spec... saying this as someone who had the whole of that Gold before my data corrupted at the start of last year, it was the most pointless and boring experience of my life. Maybe if they combined B-Spec and endurance races with strong AI and a good damage system it'd be fun to run two 3 hour stints with two partners for the 24 hour races. Until then, the only thing that'll make me dip into that murky world again is the platinum trophy.

And I actually found the Vettel Challenge rewarding, but maybe that's just me.
