I can't wait until the 9th of March when we get out UK release. So, I was thinking about picking this up as a taster.

How are the graphics and handling etc compared to the finished GT4?

Is it worth bothering with this now?

GT4 has better graphics, better handling a lots, you can play the Demo and you'll see.

No PAL demo has been released yet, certainly not in the UK (well apart from the BMW demo and that not exactly easy to get hold of now).

You only have another 24 days to wait now, and given that Prologue costs about £20-25 (depending on where you shop), I'd say don't bother...

I've had Prologue since it was released and it has been worth every penny, not least because it has kept me sane, but it might be a bit pointless to buy it now... it does come with a DVD though, which is quite interesting, but not essential. You also get some sort of 'head-start' in GT4... there is plenty about that on this forum already though...

However, if you really have come to the end of your patience waiting for GT4, Prologue will keep you occupied... even just mastering Citta Di Aria (Tuscany street circuit) in the Lancia Delta Integrale or the gorgeous-sounding Woodone Supra JGTC will keep you busy for a couple of weeks... the license tests are a bit easy, but a few are very tricky to get Golds on, and so these too will keep you busy for a while... if in doubt, you can always pick it up second hand?

The choice is yours... :)

I got it a couple of days ago as I was thinking the same as you. Basically I got it so I could learn a few more tracks before the bombardment of loads more on GT4. And because I'm impatient :D. Anyhow, I got it off Ebay for £12 inc P&P so depends how desperate you are. I've got all Golds in License tests now (bar one coffee break which shouldn't take that long) and that was hardly solid playing for a few days (prob about 6-7 hours in total) so it won't keep you busy in that respect....

Still not sure if it was worth it, but at least I get a head start for the GT4 licenses... :D

Sorry if that doesn't help much but I'm guessing its worth more than £5 on a demo in a crappy little BMW with a time limit (hypocritcal for me to say that in some ways as I nearly bought that too lol!) which would constantly annoy me....

On that note - if you have a Paypal account and can wait another day while I watch the "making of..." DVD I don't mind selling you mine for same price I got it... (send me a PM as chances are I won't check back here)

The main advantage of the BMW demo is that the physics model has moved on quite a bit from Prolouge, yes the time limit in bloody annoying; but being able to use the new physics, new HUD and try out even part of the 'ring was worth it for me as a freebie.

Not sure sbout paying a fiver for it this close to launch.

Definitely as a freebie it would be well worth it - I did look around at the time but no joy. As I say - I was even tempted at a fiver but now it all seems a bit late (they were £20 on Ebay when they came out.... twenty quid for a demo!!)

Would like to try this new physics engine though.... :) Roll on 9th March!

Don't waiste your money on that garbage, Just a few weeks to go for you guy's! I haven't touched my GT4 Prologue since getting a 100% which took 3 days after the game was released, Save your money because it's totally not worth it, I loaded my Prologue onto my HDD and sold it on Ebay for $10.00-------I would of took $5.00 for it!!! :dopey:

Don't waiste your money on that garbage,

A bit harsh, I don't think anything PD have ever made comes anywhere close to deserving being called garbage, but that's just my opinion....

I agree it would be a waste of cash to buy the game now (only 20 more days!! :dopey: ), but after getting '100%' (by which I assume you mean all golds?), I continue to get alot of game play out of it, not least because I have a DFP (Driving Force Pro) and Prologue supports 900 degree mode...

The object of the license tests in Prologue are slightly different to GT3... alot of tests you only have to complete to get the Bronze, whereas to Gold them all is somewhat more difficult.. but even after you gold a test, there is much room for improvement... a gold will score you 100 pts (a taste of the new GT4 points system), but you can improve every test up to ~300 pts... so there is no '100%' in the game really...

Quite agree with you, in the run up to GT4, I have spent more time on Prologue and the BMW demo than on GT3. Ideal oportunity to get to grips with the new physics (BMW) and some of the new tracks.

After these two, GT3 seems a bit too easy, I've got far more than 3 days worth out of Prologue and the BMW demo, even with the time limit and only two cars on the demo.

Would say its very debatable as to how worthwhile it would be getting them now, but i'm very glad I got mine when I did.

When I pop in that game which pretty much teaches me nothing but how I waisted my money! The game boots up with all Gold and says (((100%))) Meaning I aquiered everthing it has to offer! GT Concept 2002 is a much better teasing Demo than GT 4 Prologue, 2 player Battle, I Link, Way more cars and more tracks also, Featured over 200 Rare Cars available that are finally in GT4, When compared to Concept i'ts PD's Third best Demo, The Subaru Demo of 02 and the 350Z Press Kit Demo of GT were also better than GT4P, I cosider the 350Z and Subaru Demo pretty much a tie and I still enjoy them much more so than GT4P.

----IMO----

I'm with you on that point, GT Concept has alot more to offer in terms of game play, but it is still the GT3 game engine at the end of the day... luckily, almost all of those beautiful, weird/wonderful cars look like they will be in GT4, but I think a few might have slipped thru the net, like the luscious Blue Pagani Zonda ...

LOL! When I went to the Pagani Dealership that's the first car I looked for, the Blue one from GT Concept! 👍

US 5 Days to go!!! :dopey:

Was it there???? That would be sweeeeeet

5 days to go??? If only!... spare a thought for us European "20 days to go" people... :( ! (thinks to self: 'can't I think of anything else to do for 15 days?')....(simple answer...no... :indiff: )

I got prologue for £16 in June, the only thing I noticed is the cars seemed to have alot of understeer. Especially on the last corner at Tsbuska (Hopes he spelt that right :scared: )

No blue Pagani at the Dealership, May be somewhere else in the game, I want remind anyone anymore how the game will be here in 4 days, I promise! 👍

Because ive still got 2 weeks of no school beacuse im excluded im thinking of getting prologue. But I shall only get it if 'The Ring' is in the game. Is it?

Does anyone know if the 10 second time penalty, that Prologue has when e.g. you hit a wall, is kept in GT4? It's a really annoying feature...

And does Prologue have the same graphics engine as GT4?

fonza
i read that it is but only in professional mode. i may not be correct though. the graphics i dont know about

You mean the 10 seconds penalty is still in GT4? Damn... That suxx.... But didn't someone already post al the differences between Prologue and GT4? I could not find a thread about it...

I got GT4 Prologue on ebay for under a tenner so I could practice with my new DFP :) Maybe not worth it now as GT4 is almost here...but it's still quite good.
