How fanatical are you???

Just wondering what lenghts/extremes some of you other hard core GT'ers have gone to for your love of GranTurismo?

I was almost tattooed with the GT logo once while drunk on my 22nd birthday, even made it to the parlor. (Ex partner/fiance put a stop to that.):dunce:

I've been in fist fights with good pals in the pub over a GT v Forza debate. (Played Forza for ten minutes once so I didn't have the best argument.):grumpy:

I once became seriously ill and had session of extreme pain due to a stone in my guts but refused to go to hospital because pausing the Le Mans 24 hour enduro (GT4) takes away from it's realism!:scared:
(Did let Bob finish the last few hours, it was agonizing.)

What tales of love/madness/sadness do you have about GT?

lol. I think you set the bar too high. I'm on vacation for a week and all I'm doing is playing GT5 all day. I just stop to eat and use the bathroom. lol.

There's a blizzard here so not much to do outdoors. But I've gone too far, tomorrow I'm going to have to step away from the wheel!
 
well, I take vacation leave to play endurance.
broke my promise to buy a new laptop for my gf and spend to buy a wheel and a new LED tv just to play this game.
and now spend my time here while leave my Bob run the indy 500.
 
came back home the 20:e of december from college, now i'm at level 22 with a red bull x2010 , this game is so addicting xD .
 
To let my b-spec driver level up faster, i set an alarm to wake up every night when the race was over. Now im in the 9hour races so i dont need to wake up anymore.

My girlfriend was wondering why i set the alarm, i told her i was trying to check if i could sleep better if i would pee in the middle of the night. She doesnt want me to have the ps3 on at nights so i had to lie :P

I presume you're talking about the pain of having to let Bob finish it off for you? Joking, of course...

I don't have any stories as severe as that, but I:

Have bought two copies of GT1, 2 and 3 because I used to have them, lost them and wanted them for 'completeness' of my collection; I can't even play 3 and 4 any more since my 60gb PS3 YLOD'd.

Am currently ill but refuse to stay in bed when I could be playing GT5. Unfortunately I couldn't hack it (eyes are stinging way too much and my head is pounding) so I'm B-Speccing endurance races instead, but the intent is still there.

Have turned down paid work because of GT5... Nothing too profitable but you can tell I don't have any bills to pay!

I'm also not buying Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood because I'm pretty sure that between GT5, Black Ops (though I've played that for literally two hours since the 23rd of November, bearing in mind I played it for 25 hours between it's release and GT5's, that's a steep decline), my girlfriend and my work I won't have time to get into any other games.

Oh and also, when my 60gb YLOD'd (on GT5's release day), I went straight out and bought a Slim and just accepted the 60 was dead, but I think it was just a PSU burnout; something fixed with a £15 replacement part which I've just bought... If I get my 60 back up and running, I'll have a Slim just for GT5 and a 60 for Black Ops; that way I will have spent £250 unnecessarily, BUT I'll be able to play Black Ops while I B-Spec instead of sitting around, bored.
 
LOL nice topic.

I think the GT series have cost me well over 20 controllers out of frustration.

Now I bite in my steeringwheel because its to heavy to throw.
 
Nowhere near any of the extreme things you've all done (respect!) but I seriously considered buying myself a PSP just for the Gran Turismo game which came out for it.
It took a lot of restraint not to, even though I knew there were no other games I wanted for the PSP.
 
I bought a slim and GT5 the day it finally came out. My phat 60gb died beyond repair. I spent 2 months without a PS3 and wasn't really missing it.

Another incident was back in 2000, I was at Uni and I met this girl, I was totally into her. During the semester break, she went home and instead of going with her to hang out over Easter I went to my parents place because my brother had bought GT2 (In came out in England early that year I think).

Oh I almost forgot, my daughter was born Jan 4th this year. I went home later that day to get my wife some things and while I was there I did 10 laps on the time trial demo and just said the traffic was bad.

Did your wife ever find out?
 
No. How would she? It only added about 15-20 minutes onto my round trip. It was the perfect crime. My laps sucked too, but I had been awake all night.
 
I bought myself another 120gb slim ps3 and 32" LCD for myself to play GT5 and let the misses have the other ps3 for COD lol

Classic. I did kind of similar thing with my girlfriend when gt4 was released. There was a ps2 and gt4 running in one gameshop and I was on my way to meet her. Took a detour and played 30 minutes gt4 and then came late using the same excuse :sly: She wasn't too happy having to wait over half an hour (i was already late) in busy mall...
