***ERROR***
Earlier today I was racing with somebody from Scandinavia in an online race using public garage Calsonic GT-Rs with RS tyres and only ABS1 as a driving aid. He/she managed to post a time around the Trial Mountain Circuit of 1:16.7xx using a steering wheel.

My best was a 1:21.6xx using a pad but I think that even with a wheel I would have struggled to come within a second of that time. A truly awesome time, I believe...

I just thought I would post this in the hope that others would post on here thier personal best times driving around the same circuit using the same car with the same aids (only ABS @ 1) so I could put my own time (and that of mr/mrs scandinavia) into context.

If you post here please state also whether you are using a standard sixaxis controller or a steering wheel controller.

The Challenge (to be competed in online mode):

Trial Mountain Circuit
Nissan Calsonic IMPUL GT-R '08 (online 'recommended' version only)
Tyres: Racing Softs
Driving Aids: ABS - 1 (everything else - off)
Transmission: Manual

Other Settings
Grip Reduction: Real
Mechanical Damage: Light
Penalty: Weak

Time to beat - 1:16.7xx (wheel)

My (provisional) Personal Best - 1:21.6xx (pad)

Good luck

p.s. if you have any other personal bests you want to share just state the circuit driven, car used, its BHP, weight, any driver aids used (and the degree to which they were used i.e. ABS - 7), along with the time achieved and whether you used a (pad/steering wheel) :)

Is it possible to keep ABS off? I might take a go at this if I have the time.

ABS can be set to from 'Off' (0) to 10.

the times were set with ABS @ 1 so the challenge is to beat the time using the same settings.

I know a few guys that can lap low 1.15s - high 1.14s with this combo.

that's really quick. do they use a wheel?

how about your fastest mr?

Yea they use a wheel. It would be near impossible to do these times with a pad. I can lap in the high 15s - low 16s but trial mountain isn't one of my favourites. Now Laguna on the other hand....

Really? That's incredible... I realise you're in D1 and I'm not one of the fastest around here but I just tried this combo (with the Arcade Stock Online Impul GT-R) and can only manage 1'20.2xx

5 seconds faster seems quite beyond belief.

Oh 🤬 stock. Sorry above times were done with oil change which puts out around 518bhp. I'll get my glasses now:)

@Rutter200_VR46: that's still very fast. i also noticed that you had in your sig that you're in D1 so i'm guessing you're one of the fastest on this site... what sort of times do you get around laguna seca?

@VagabondAngel: did you use a wheel or a pad?

@Rutter200_VR46 - Hehe, yeah, its done using the Calsonic Impul GT-R that is provided in the online garage (not offline A-Spec or arcade.. or out of your own garage) :)

I use a wheel - Logitech G25

lol yh the idea is to use the Calsonic GT-R which is available from the recommended garage in online mode which only allows for tyre changes, transmission and driving aids to be customised... no suspension/LSD/downforce etc tunage to be used at all.

i see that you're D2... that sounds impressive. are the Division Rankings something you've achieved in GT Academy?

Online in Nurburgring Nordchliefe (I problably spelled it wrong)

Mazda RX-7 Spirit R '02
542 HP
1102 kg

All assists off

6:48 time

The GT-R's and Imprezes are in the 6:30's now but 6:48 in that RX-7 was tough lol

my new personal best is 1:20.378 (pad)

Fuji GT: Calsonic GT-R, 714bhp, 1100kg, ABS - 1, 1:27.775 (pad)

Inspiring lol.

*goes to turn on PS3 and then on to GT5's menu*

*Sets up car for Trials mountain*

*Play all day with over 9000 restarts just to beat the time*

Only just for that specific set-up and track. So much to do... so much that there's no light at the end of the tunnel... just barely if you use a telescope. >_>

Hortus, are you 100% sure he was using the recomended car and not doing any tuning? Were you the host and did you lock the car to that one only?

You fairly supped it up to get 714bhp! I'm no where near to the fastest guys on this site.. Anyway i love super gt cars especially the GTR. At laguna i think my best is 1.17.860 something like that, that's with oil change & no turbos, engine upgrades etc.

I'm gonna see what I can get, with a pad.

Got a 1:21.3

i'm not 100% no mr. it wasn't a restricted race in terms of cars permitted but was in terms of bhp and weight (i think 502 and 1000 respectively) so it's possible that they were using their own calsonic... but when we were racing he was consistently 2.5-3 seconds a lap faster than me and this is what people i've spoken to have said is about the difference in time between a decent gamer using a wheel over one using a pad. also, their 1:16 time was clocked during the race so they could have had help from one of the ghosted lapees along the uphill back straight. their quali time was 1:17.4xx

i guess the faster time could be misleading but it's consistent with what i've learnt - my fastest round trial mountain so far (which i did today using a pad) is 1:20.378 and i'm not super quick so it's possible that a really good gamer using a wheel could be about 3 and a half seconds faster than my best offering.

No its the GT Planet Registry for the Weekly Race Series. Look here:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=173747

thanks mr, i checked it out just a few minutes ago but i've missed the deadline for this one. i read that there may be an opening for other people to apply so hopefully i'll get my wheel and level up my GTP tag before then.
how many divisions are there in the GTP Registry?

i supped mine up because i'm in a weekly racing league and we're using Super GT cars this season. there's no limit to what can and can't be done to the car so i just added everything to it. it started out at about 693 after the upgrades but after a few miles the BHP slowly creeped up to the 714 it is now.

your time with the GT-R around laguna seca - is it with a tuned GT-R (suspension/LSD etc) or completely untouched?
i'm gonna go and see what time i can get with the online GT-R before bed :)

how many divisions are there in the GTP Registry?

Currently 5, each split into Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Did this very combo two days ago during a couple of races of 7 laps in a room called "Trial Mountain only". I did pretty consistant laps in 1.19.xxx - my best being 1.19.2xx. Won the races by quite a margin, so I would say that 1.16xx is an exstreme time - and to me almost unbelievable. Not that I'm a perfect racer, but I did 6 laps in a row 1.19.xxx and can hardly emagine anyone shaping 3 secs off that.

Enjoyed the combo so I stayed in the room for quite some time.. must have driven app. 30-40 laps

Would love to se a replay - did you save it?

I'm actually from Denmark - (Scandinavia) so are you sure you didn't race me and just have the lap times wrong? ;)

oh.. and I use G25 - manual tran. and no aids except abs 1.

thanks vagabondangel

jens muff: i wrote down the time to one decimal place as soon as i saw it (i have a little book to write about things to do with GT5) so that i could practice and try to get close to it. my fastest so far with a pad is 1:20.3..

i'd have recognised your name if it were you, sorry.
unfortunately i didn't save the replay as i had a bad race (though i finished second). next time i'm on PSN i'll check the Players Met folder and see if i can find the person to ask what equipment they use and whether they were using the recommended calsonic or their own.

Hm.. Need to go practice this tomorrow, then. :) Don't remember if I used my own Calsonic or the recommended. I have installed the improved body rigidity on my own, that might have helped my times if I used my own.

I'll get back when I have lap times to share :)

Iv certainly seen people get into the 1.16s with the calsonic gtr with 500 bhp from the recommended garage on trial mountain online, i can hit 1.17s and generally lap in the 1.18s. Thays with a DFGT Wheel

Its a course where you can pick up a lot of time by being brave in the first few turns and getting the line correct. Also the 5th corner is deceptive, people always understeer whereas if you break a little earlier you can carry far more momentum through that corner. Another place to pick up time is the turn before the back straight. You can actully turn in for that corner far earlier than it appears and use the section of road with the yellow grid, allows you to exirt with more speed and carry that momentum down the straight.

Trial mountain is a very technical course and car placement is very important, it has several sections where your almost threading the car throught the eye of the needle, get it right and you can shave seconds off lap times.

Best time 1.18.6xx

Can se myself getting into the late 17 but that's probably where my wall of talent stops me ;) I raced with a really good Spanish dude, who managed to pull quite a lot of 1.17.xxx ... He also told me, that his record was 1.16.25x - so must admit that the time described is not impossible at all. :ouch:

I'm not done with this combo, however. What a great car!:dopey:

Think I raced for an hour or something...

it is a nice car, it seems to handle better than the one i own though... i've tuned mine alsorts of ways to try and replicate the handling but i cannot...
i'd like to know the tune of the online one, but something tells me i will be disappointed to learn that it is simply stock
