Just yesterday, I changed my 40gb for a 60gb at EBgames:)
And yes, I allreddy know that 60's are compatable with most
PS2 games... But I wondered what GT4 on a 60 looks like?

I have a PAL GT4 and, it kind of looks fuzzy on PS2:tdown:
Do you have any pics of GT4 on a 60gb?

Thanks

I have an 80 GB backwards compatible ps3 (motorstorm bundle), and the only problems ive encountered with it are the intro movie, and in some circuits the very top left corner of the screen glitches, turning green. None of this causes a crash, just visual. I dont know about the PAL version, but i don't believe it would be any different.

I play the PAL GT4 on my 60GB, and it's fine. As mentioned, sometimes the very top right of the screen goes glitchy, but you'd hardly notice it.

Make sure you turn on ps2 upscaling in your ps3 settings! It looks better than on a ps2, and it loads faster as well, which is nice :)

I have the exact same problem as you do with the screen having the top left corner go photo negative or something sometimes. The Opening movie seems to be not in sync with the PS3 frame rate and it sounds choppy.

Thanks you guys, Just this morning
I put GT4 in and it looks Awesome:tup:

Now I am starting to get into the Habit
of playing all of my old PS2 games on my 60gb

Oh, yea, Im new to GTP:gtplanet:👍

I play GT4 on my 60gb PS3 all the time, and it works perfect. I don't have any glitches that weren't there on the PS2. It loads abit quicker also. I find that it actually looks best on my TV in 480p. I have tried 1080i, and it just looked grainy for some reason. My G25 also works with GT4 on my PS3.

I've played GT4 on a CECHA PS3 several times, and the only thing I've ever noticed about it is that the PS3 doesn't like it when you use B-Spec mode or Photo Travel. It also really doesn't like running in 1080i.

Playing GT4 on 60GB PS3 version.
The intro movie is choppy, but if you skip it in the first place and then choose Demo mode at the main screen, the intro movie will play smoothly.

The green glitch in top left corner only appears, if I change brightness/contrast option in the game. If I leave the options unchanged, then the screen is clean.

Load times are faster.

Sometimes the game screen shakes. Just reset the game, and everything will be okay.

The game looks squished if I upscale it. So I only use smoothing.

Sound can be set to stereo only. Even if I chose different options (5.1 intro sound)

I can't transfer photo-mode pictures to memory card or psp - the game freezes.
I haven't tried to transfer to USB memory stick.

I have a 60G PS3, and a HD ready Sharp LCD TV, but GT4 never looked really well on it, always shaking a bit, being grainy, rolling text hard to read. Plus the top left image flicker(not a big deal since it's never in the way) and the intro movie. I will try set se if it will work better in 480, with/without PS2 upscaling (I use my Ps3 in 1080i mode, maight not be the best).
On the other hand, I just got my Driving Force GT and set it up to run with GT4 on PS3 yesterday :D .. YAY. The thing is that Logitech says that they do not directly support PS2 games on PS3 (because some usb tech stuff), hence it doesn't run right out of the box (the wheel initializes on game startup, but does nothing at all). The trick is to plug it in to usb 2, start the game, press a controler's ps button when asked (the wheel initiates anyway), then stop the controller (long press on the RS button, chose stop controller), then go and switch the wheel usb port from 2 to 1 (fizically, pull it out the plug it in to the other one). The wheel reinitializes, and now it takes the place of controller 1 and it's good to go. Sorry if this isn't the right place for this info, and it was probably known by a lot of people already, but it's sweet and deserves repetition.

Clarification so the info is correct, based on my latest experience: So I tried the above method again, and it didn't work. I was all grrrr and wtf. Then I tried this, which is logical and did work (at least once, as with the above method): In PS3 interface, shut down the DS3 controller, then plug your DFGT into USB port 1. It will initialize and you can use it to navigate the menus. Then just start GT4. The game starts, and the wheel initializes, and since there is no other controller to interfere, it becomes the default one, or something like that. And it works: the buttons in the menus, the wheel and pedals for driving, all ok.

GT4 was working excelent for me on my 60Gig in 1080i, untill the beginning of 2010. From that point forward the 1080i output stopped looking right. I suspect after the slim came out, the firmware build changed and an update disabled the hardware call which I think ONLY GT4 EVER USED. (Was there any other PS2 game that could output 1080i?) Now it just seems like blown up 480i, not even upscaled just blown up.

With the way GT5 is panning out, I may have to dig up my PS2 soon.

I gotta admit GT4 looks ugly on my PAL PS2 ever since I hooked it up to a big HD TV.
However, on PS3, I managed to tweak some things to make GT4 look o.k.
Very importantly, go to PS2 Upscaling on your PS3 and choose "Full". This works well for the game. By the NTSC version of GT4 you have the option of 1080i, which you should definitely enable. Also, go to the settings in GT4 and select '16:9 aspect ratio'. That is if your TV is widescreen, which I'm guessing it is.
The intro movie does constantly change to and back from 10 pixels to the left (so it keeps shaking in other words). For the rest it goes better.

Cheers! :D.

GT4 on my original 80Gb (North America) is atrocious. The framerate drops to low single digits and the game hangs pretty much everytime I play.
