How hard is it to do wheelies?

Does anyone know how hard it is to do wheelies in this game?

I've been able to do them when going over certain bumps in the pavement, such as when going uphill on the straight in Seattle Circuit, but I am curious if there are any bikes out there that can wheelie on sheer power. I would think that some of the race bikes can, and I think I saw one of them wheelie coming up to the start/finish line of the Motegi road course, but I am curious how hard it is to get these things to wheelie, because I want to take some shots of my favourite bikes for my desktop, etc.

Let me know if you have any info on the best bikes and courses to try.

Some of the lower powered and heavier bikes can't(even if they should be able to in real life).

All the 600cc sport bikes I rode could do them easily.

pullback, tucking helps sometimes too. i have only used pro controls so i don't know if it works in other modes.

Its easy. Even on bikes that dont want to wheelie. Take a powerfull bike (pro mode or not) like the Gixxer 1000, nail it and pull back on the stick. Youll freaking loop it.

If the bike your riding doesent want to wheelie (like the hayabusa, which has a long wheelbase), hit the brakes and lean forward, then snap the throttle open and lean back at the same time. youll get it up.

Thanks for all the ideas, guys, I'll try them when I get home.

Now, here's the Silly Question Of The Day (SQOTD): Can you do "stoppies," too, by throwing your weight forward?

Just curious.

Indeed you can..

And most things in TT ('cept scooters) will wheelie with a little help... BMWs won't though (either that, or I can't figure them out)...

Just as spectre explained, to do a stoppie hit the breaks and shift your weight forward by pressing up on the left analog stick.

Try a combo of nose wheelies(at a lower speed) and then rite befor the back wheel hits the ground lean back and rip it. Hayabusa's will do them if you use that trick.

You sure can, try making the gear ratio very short and see if it helps.. does in real life. =-)
It probably will help on some low-power bikes if that's what you guys are talking about ... but if you are wanting to do a wheelie on sheer power without a weight shift, I don't think it's gonna happen no matter what the gears.

Thats correct.. it will be difficult nigh impossible to wheelie without wieght shift.. Only way i see it happening is if you go over a big bump.

The zx-10 will wheelie if you just graze the control stick back. Violently.

It seems as hard as I try, I can't get the front end up on any of my bikes, nor can i do a wheelie. Does anyone know if weight transfer front to rear is taken out of the NTSC version? Or does rider height have anything to do with it? I'm using pro settings, by the way.

What bikes are you using? Any of the sportier 600s and faster will come up whenever you want (and sometimes when you don't). If you're riding a fatter bike like the ZRX1200 or an older 250 with 40hp or more you can get it up if you bounce the front. Push your weight forward and jam on the brakes, when you see the bike begin to lurch forward pull back and gas it. If it doesn't come up immediately try rocking it back and forth a couple times.

Maybe I could make a short video or two of wheelies with a fat bike.

Ok, here's a video of a 1980 RZ250. Unfortunately we can't all be Kevin Schwantz, he could probably coax a Goldwing to fly.

No, it's in there, and so are wheelies and stoppies. I wish there were a way to turn off the latter without having to turn on failure conditions, because I have big hands and have a tendency to push the analog slightly forward when going left or right. While braking into a turn, that wants to make the bike stoppie as it is turning, and so I've unfortunately become quite experienced at cartwheeling through the gravel traps.

Go into arcade mode. Select the GSX-R 1000 or ZX-10R. Accellerate and pull back on the left stick. If you dont wheelie, your controller is broken.

Oh btw, getting the front end up *is* a wheelie. Getting the rear end up is a -Stoppie-

Uhh... like I said. *Stoppies* you dont stop. *Endos* you stop. Nose Wheelie just sounds stupid.

It's true.

I think this is something that shows the generation gap, Spectre. Remember "brodies"?
