How important is the accurate simulation of real-world racing series to your vision of Gran Turismo?

Gran Turismo, is, above all else, a racing game. While it simulates a large breadth of different racing disciplines (karting, NASCAR, rally, GT3, Le Mans, etc.), only a small snapshot of the cars, tracks and specific rules of each series is presented to us in-game. With this in mind, how important is the development of more accurate simulations of real racing disciplines and their respective rule sets? Is there scope for improvement in this in the future, perhaps aided by Kaz's own experience as part of a real racing team in a real, organised race series?
