How long does it take for you to get in your groove?

Normally it takes me 10 laps before I feel comfortable during a run, 15 or so before I really start lighting up my fast times. Even at a place I know well like Laguna it still takes time to get in the zone.

Depends on how familiar I am with the car / track.

If I'm pretty comfortable right away, I'll have a good idea of where I stand after 5-10 laps.

If the combo requires some tuning / getting used to, or I have to re-learn the finer points of the track, I'll usually run 25-30 laps at 90% to figure out the details before I worry about putting a polished lap together. Then I'll conciously decide to focus for 5 laps, and usually get a time worthy of posting (that's what I did tonight in the Zonda, with my cat sitting on my left hand ... the cat had to go for those last 5 laps ;) )

This works the other way around for me.
Laps 1 to 3 are the fastest ones, then I'm losing concentration trying to be faster than the ghost and it takes at least 15 to 20 laps to come back to fast times.
I'm switching off the ghost but the split time display, red or blue depending on whether you're faster or slower than the ghost, is enough for me to brake too late or miss an apex.
I'm usually re-starting the race from the menu (to clear the ghost time) after lap 3 or 4.

Mostly I run 2-5 laps just for exploring the track(where are the fastest points, etc.)Then I'm going out for ten laps and then I put in my fastest times.

This week was the first time I spent more than 15 minutes total trying to get a fast time. I spent all week trying this time!
