hi

i saw clarkson do it on top gear in just under 10mins in real life, does the game reflect the true distance and the time it takes to cover it?

FOr instance to do it in a mini or another small engine car does it take nearer 20 mins?

Just Curious!

That car he used was a 200bhp desil so it wasnt that fast. A ferrari enzo did it in just under 7 mins.

A lemans race car could do it in about 6:20 if you really pushed it.

Unlike Project Gotham racing 2 where i got a 6:03 in with a TVR speed 12 this game has the track modled amazingly well. So you wont be likely to be ever be setting PGR2 laptimes

I mini wouldnt actually be much slower than the jag on top gear i would hazzard i guess of 10 mins

On my second lap I got the Seat Ibiza Cupra around in 9'15, which wasn't bad. There were a few mistakes of the crashing variety and obviously without my set-up being optimised yet and still learning the game and track I wasn't on "Holy cow! How did you do that lap!" ground, but it's not bad.

The fastest road cars get 7'xx. The R33 Skyline was the first production road car in 1995 to break under 8'00, but the bar has gone down steadily since then. A close relative of the Caterham FireBlade netted a 7'13 and that's the road car record (although some people don't class it as a road car, despite being totally road legal in the UK).

A look through the laptimes on www.nurburgring.de shows this time

Rolf Derscheid (D), Andrea Derscheid (D) Opel Corsa 1.4L Gr.G3
1999-10-30, CHC Rundenrekord 20.832 km 118.851 km/h 10'31.000

Smegging hell. A 70mph average in an 82hp Corsa?

The official track record is 7.18.10 minutes, set by a Donkervoort D8RS for just a couple of weeks ago.
The Carrera GT held the record before with a time of 7.32.44 minutes.
I dont know where you got the Enzo time from, but it seems highly unlikely that it can drive the ring in under 7 minutes!!!

The Mini Cooper S Works needs 8.32 minutes. I dont know the time for the standard Mini One, but i would guess 9.20 if driven well.

my bad about the enzo all from memory. was that with trafic or without? beocuse that strikes me as kinda slow.

It has to be said as we are on the subject the radical sr3 is the fastest with a 6:18

The Carrera GT never held the record. The Radical SR3 got a time of 7'19 before the GT did it's lap. The Radical SR3 is completely road legal. For it's time not to be "officially" recognized is scandalous.

The only cars under 7 minutes are race cars. As was pointed out earlier, the lap record for a road car is 7'18 by that Donkervoort.

The fastest ever time is 6.11.130 minutes by a werks-porsche 956. Set already in 1983.

I dont know the reason for the radical sr3 time not being official, but officially the Donkervoort D8 RS has the fastest time for a road legal car. And the Carrera GT did hold the record before it.....source: 'SportAuto' nr 12 2004 (German racing magazine).

GT4's track are very very very closely modelled and measured according to real life. If you visit the English GT4 site you can download a clip on a real life Tsukuba Circuit and GT4's Tsukuba circuit running side by side.

The difference is flawless!

The Radical SR3T time was not set on slick tyres, they used Dunlop Formula R tyres, which while being a semi-slick pattern are road legal. Most of the cars going for the road car/road tyres lap record use the same.

"A top speed of over 160mph was recorded on the Döttinger Höhe straight, and even with the Dunlop Formula R road tyres, a cornering force of 2.1g was not uncommon."

Yeah, most of what's written on the track is just grafitti.

As for Enzo times... I've heard a couple varying reports. At one point, Shumacher apparently drove one around in about eight minutes, according to that Top Gear video. But I also heard of another test, where they pitted several supercars against each other on the 'Ring, and the Enzo actually couldn't do it. It sits so low, even raised up, that it couldn't handle the bumps on the track, and they stopped driving it so as to avoid damaging it.
