Hey guys, i did a search in this forum and didnt find anything.

I also searched google but found conflicting answers.

I have started my build, using a Thermaltake Commander Case.

my question is, how many fans can i daisy chain to the motherboard?

i bought 6 x 120mm fans, one that goes on the other side of the cpu cooler, and the other 5 around the case (i might not use one if the still to be added video card wont fit with it)

my mobo supports 3x sys fans, and one cpu fan. so i was going to split the cpu fan plug for the 2 cpu cooler fans.

i was then going to split each of the other 3 sys fan plugs and attach 2 fans to each.

the fan specs:

12v
0.16A +/- 10%
1.92W +/- 10%
44 CF/M

speed duty 100% - 1200RPM
50% - 750RPM

Edit- one of the 6 fans is the 120mm fan that came with the case. i assume the specs are similar.

does this have a chance to overload my mobo? i know i can connect to my PSU, but would prefer not to.

thanks guys!

Sorry, not sure. I have always used fan controllers when I exceeded my motherboards fan capacity.

i just went into my local shop, and was assured by the head tech that 2 fans per plug would be no problem. he said that even 10 per would be okay if you knew what you were doing, but he didnt reccommend it. thanks anyways! :)

Well don't overload the fan headers past 1 amp. How fast the fan is does not mean how it will overload the header. Just make sure the amperage does not go above 1 amp per fan header. Each fan tells you how much amperage it uses at 12V.
