I was wondering how many mile does a brand new car really needs to break in?

I know it takes 185 miles to 200 miles.. but what if i run it till 500+ or 1000+ miles... anybody know?

I don't wanna try it, til i get some facts about this break in myth.. to many miles to add for no reason.

after 3k start to lose hp after 10k you can't gain hp back by engine restoration

I could argue with that 10k... I have a cuda with 6800 miles, restored engine and already has one hp less than my other cuda with 300 miles. And I restored the engine.

Maybe he means 10,000 km which is similar to your figure in miles.

Some people say 186 miles but I'm convinced its 200 miles... I have a ford gt no stripe with 7,100 miles and its permanently lost 1hp which is literally a 0.005 difference...

Some cars don't gain full power at 200 miles. For example , my Enzo only achieved full power at 225 miles. So I always put my cars at 250 - 300 miles to have 100% sure they have full power and break in.

Maybe he does though I think he uses miles. Idk.
I agree with the 200 miles, I actually have an R8 with 208 miles and still at 894 bhp while it should be at 897... So it might be more :)

I have a Charger with 4k, restored engine and its like 5 Less bhp then my other charger!.
I Think All car are different, possibly? i'm only new to GT5 so i don't really know much stuff about it, but we just have to try i guess?

Nah, did you use a car restoration ticket or did you buy it in the gt shop?

I had this problem. I think some of your break in miles haven't counted. I think only races in professional series (a or b) and races online count towards brake in. I think miles you accumulate in practice/speed test don't count but still add actual miles to the clock... I know I mistakenly gained 50 or so miles in an easy race, amateur series I think, after the race, I had an additional 50 miles on the clock but 0 bhp increase...

In my experience, when you break in correctly, it has always been at exactly 200 miles for me. I tend to do b spec Indy races in extreme .. Eg like the wind (18 laps) or gt championship (22 laps) good for 50+ miles at a time, every 15-18 mins.
(About 50 secs to 55 secs per lap)

Quickest option other than online speed route x brake in lobbies... But at least in b spec it does it got you in the background. Or endurance race it if your away out for 2 or more hours.

Learned this the hard way and not all races count, I ended up putting over 250 miles and my Integra and my Mazda Atenza.
All a and b spec races and practice mode should work, online only with tire wear on and completion of the race.

EDIT: Arcade mode doesn't work btw.

A patch or two ago they made it so you don't have to complete the online race. You only get the miles you complete though, I noticed this when loser would finish the race when I was breaking in a slow car and the didn't wait for me.

Yeah that's what I actually meant. You don't have to cross the finish line, but stay on track till the race finished. If you leave the race, it won't count.

I now just complete 200 miles (80 some odd laps i think) of the Indy 500 b-spec and quit, seems the quickest now for me while I'm doing something else.
