So the "race save update coming" thread and other threads in the past have sparked a debate by many people who believe it cheapens the 24 hour race experience or value if you don't do it yourself no saves 1 shot.

Ok maybe I could see the merit in that if you were really racing, except how many of those people did the race and lost. Or any of us for that matter, who sat there for a 24 hour event with a car that legitimately could lose the race and actually managed to lose, or even "barely" win.

I would bet if everyones honest it will be 0, and I'll give more thoughts on this subject later after some replies.

EDIT: Please don't vote if you have never done one!

0... i've never tried one... not even the 9h race ! but with the save I will do them all, in time

I came second before the 1.06 patch and walked away with 2.8mil exp :P. Lost the save data anyway an hour later lol. Tip: Never fall asleep when you are on parking time with 1 hour to go ^^. I'm lucky i woke up in time to get second.

Easy way to prevent that, choose a car that is competitive on racing hard tires. Near the end if you're not going to win switch to racing softs and make up the time and win. Still being competitive not making it boring but no real chance of losing.

A spec isn't fun enough to race a 24hr race twice, but why even do the race in the first place if your just going to over power the competition, just do a practice run.

This is my usual endurance formula. Close anyway; I usually build my car to be about equal with the fastest AI car on Medium Tires, then I start on Hard Tires and switch to Softs when I'm ready to challenge myself to make up the time. If I catch the leader "too early" I can always go back to Medium or Hard compound to bring the challenge back.

I remember winning the Cote D'Azur endurance in GT3 with my 787B, had a tough time on that one.

I won't vote, but I will be one of the people who will use a car that will definitely win. I'm not spending all that time if there's a chance that I'll lose, sorry.

its funny how people say the AI is too easy, yet they majority uses overpowering cars.... i personal like a race so i pick a car the my opponent is driving

Nothing wrong with that... Point I'm making is that finishing a 24 in a car that can't lose is not the life achievement some here would make it out to be.

Heck finishing a 24 in this game is no life achievement, but at least if you do it competitively you have a bit of an argument for that!

I plan to do the longer enduro races if we get a mid race save update.

However, on topic, I was letting my B-spec driver do the 24Hr of Le Mans, we where tidying the house and my mum was polishing my room. She pressed the eject button by total mistake, the disc pops out and race over. I had less than 2 hours to wait for the Toyota GT1.

Strangely though.... I was completly fine with it. I could easily have gone of the rails and hit mother with various objects close to hand, but in all honesty I just didn't give a rats ass. I suppose now that I've had something unlucky like that happen I may have better luck from here on in. At least I hope!

I used the X2010 for Le Mans in aspec in the rain purely so I would only have to actually race for 15 hours rather than 24. I don't thinly racing a competitive le mans car for 9 hours longer would have made me feel much in the way of achievement, 15 hours was enough of one track.

I'm a little bit confused. I would've thought a 24 hour race lasts for 24 hours, no matter what car you're in. Is there a distance or lap limit also?

Getting a really close finish (or losing in a competitive car) in the 24h races is quite difficult. In any race I have seen so far it rained for at least 1 hour. Heavy rain totally destroys the balance of a close race.

Additionally at Le Mans there are up to 10 sec a lap you could gain by cutting corners if you really want that victory. Starting with harder tires to have the option to switch to faster ones if needed is not a "real racing option" too.

So looking for a close race is not so much about the possibility to lose, it's only to keep it interesting. So imho there is nothing wrong with using different tires etc., those tools might actually help keeping it closer for longer. I had a Le Mans 24h where it was really head to head for 22 hours (but with different pit strategies, no blocking). Then it started to rain and I pulled away.

But I have lost 2 Nürburgring 4h races so far. ;)

BTW: Doing it without breaks is neither fun nor healthy. With a save function I would do them more.

Since the person uses an X2010, the lead gained is so big that the racer can simply park the car after 15 hours and come back the 24th hour to finish the race in first. It's a way of driving less and still winning.

Using an X1 in a 24 hour race CAN STILL BE an endurance race. I drove Le Mans for 8 hours without pausing (getting up and running around, eating etc during pits tops), then slept for 6-7 hours, and then drove the remainder of the race. So I never paused the game. I believe this to be more of an endurance than those who drive a slower / competitive car and yet pause the game to take extended breaks. Driving the X1 as efficiently as possible to maximize down time, is still highly tiring. PD should have removed the pause option from endurance races...THEN we would see what people would do. :p

The real 24 hour races aren't about driving the full 24 hours by the same person anyways. If another online player(s) and or B-spec Bob(s) could take over at the real life intervals, then I would drive a competitive car.
