How many special paints can you get?

If I'm not mistaken there is a car limit of 2000. This equals 66 special paint awards. What happens when you reach this limit?

If I sell a car at 30 I won't get a new chip when I buy my next car, I'll have to buy 31. So it stands to reason that you can only get 66 and then you have to rely on luck to get them in the daily randoms, or resort to duplicating.

It's especially annoying since I just lost one of these 66 rares (Gold Chrome too!) and I don't dare to try duping, especially now that the save data has tricked me out of a paint chip I don't want to lose my entire save!
 
just back up your save before you get to the next 30...then load save & send the "special" to a sub account, delete, reload, repeat...lol....or do it till you got the one you want...i have all my favorite colors backed up on my sub account...i have every matte, color shift, and chrome there....this way if i ever run out i can just gift my self the color from that account
 
I did the repeated restart to get the chip but then it was gone. This whole different accounts business; should I create a new user on the ps3 or do I have to create a new PSN account? Seems complicated.
