but web based apps wont outdo anything you can do on a pc normaly for a long time (eg. playing half-life with wsad keys and console commands)

Both the first (long) api article and the last Google blog are good reading.. I've never thought of Google that way, but the api thingy I've seen coming for a long time now... (I work that stuff ;) )
