i drink quite a lot but i am not proud of it...i am trying to cut down but it is social drinking...

Friday evening. 6-8 Pints of lager or Guinness 4.1%...in the pub
Sat evening 8 pints a few whiskies occasional pint of cider...in the pub
Sunday afternoon 3 pints of lager...in the pub

i would drink a bottle of whisky over the period of two months on top of that...

i dont need anyone to tell me thats too much, but its a regular thing to go out with my friends in the evenings and my father on Sunday...

It's a difficult one, particularly with social pressures. I used to drink a fair bit (not quite to those levels), but since I took up running, I've really cut back - I do my longer runs on Saturday and Sunday, and just can't afford to be hungover on the weekend.

Since the start of the year, I'll have a couple of glasses of wine each night of the weekend, and I might sneak one during the week - that and a glass of Galiarno every now and then. I might have a couple of beers if we're out, but that's about it.

I do like a drink, though - just have to watch the after-effects. Welcome to your mid-thirties...

I dont drink at all. And I dont let social pressures make me drink either. If I am out with chums and I order a coke or something and they start their story about why aren't I drinking, I say that I dont like the taste, which I dont.

Each to his own at the end of the day.

Never drank in my life until this summer. One bad relationship and 2 suicide attempts later and I had a problem.

I'm only 20, but I knew I had a problem allready. It was starting to control me and severly affect my life and I had to put a stop to it before I got way out of control.

At new years I promised myself never to touch it again and I am happy to report that so far so good.

Wish me luck!

I'm pretty much the same way. People ask why I don't drink and I just shrug and say "I don't want to." Most people just leave it at that. The only thing that sucks about not drinking is that I always end up as the DD when everybody else drinks, but at least I know that my friends aren't drinking and driving...so it's all good. Hanging with drunk people can be really funny when you're the sober one, especially if you have a camera. :)

I've never had it...but then again, I'm not old enough either which, wouldn't make a difference because I don't really ever plan on drinking. The stuff generally stinks and I've seen my friends after a few beers - NOT a pretty site at ALL.

that's pretty much why I don't drink...well, that and the fact that my religion strictly forbids it...but I've got personal reasons for not wanting to drink.

I usually have a drink most nights, but very seldom more than one on a weeknight. It is almost always a glass of wine, but sometimes it is beer, depending on what's for dinner.

Back in college, I could drink all night long, but I found myself slowing down quite a bit in the last 10 years. Back then, I preferred vodka based mixed drinks.

Nowadays, I can't resist a good glass of red wine. I love Napa valley reds, as well as most stuff from Eastern Australia, Washington state and Oregon. I can do without most French and Italian reds. And most German wine I've had tastes like spiked Cool-Aid to me.

I don't drink very often at all. In normal life, going out with the wife and kids from time to time, etc. I may have 1-2 drinks a month at most. If we go to a special event, like a friend's wedding recently, I may have 3-4 in a night.

I can certainly drink more than that but I've pretty much lost my understanding of why. It's pleasant, but no more pleasant than not drinking, just different. So why bother?

Hardly any. A six pack will sit in my fridge for months. I only drink it when company comes over and even then I only have one, maybe two. I tend to have a beer with dinner when we go out, but we hardly ever go out for dinner.

What is the deal with all these so-called "social pressures"? What social pressure? I would not bother hanging with anyone who gave me **** about not drinking, or anything that won't hurt me for that matter.

I think I posted pictures of myself just after a 12 pack of Guiness and then a few drinks in the bar last friday night. Satuday started off with half a bottle of Patron then a few pitchers of Amber Bock :D

Good luck, and congrats! :D:tup:

Never had a drink... just the smell of alcohol makes me weary. I imagine that when I get older, I might have a glass of wine here and there, but otherwise I don't plan on consuming alcohol.

I could probably count the number of drinks i have per year on my hands...
this makes me a very cheap drunk :D
I used to drink quite a bit tho, but that was a decade or more ago

I wish you the best of luck with that Rumple. I'm very lucky I've never had to deal with a problem like that.

Thanx Stevie 👍

It has not been near as tough as I thought it would be. But I have yet to hit one of my really bad depression cycles, that's when it will be really hard for me.

That will be a difficult time - might be worth trying to find an alternative 'vice' that isn't a depressant - exercise, some sort of hobby.

Good luck, Rumple. Go for it.

Hey, thank you very much. :)

Finding an alternative is sorta what I did.

I write.

When I used to get down or feel stressed I would reach for the booze everytime. Now when I am angry or upset I reach for a pen and a pad of paper.

I spend many hours everyday now just writing about my frustrations and I write short stories and poems.

I find writing helps me express myself and it helps me vent all my anger out without hurting myself.

But I also got myself in trouble with the law because I got really upset and wrote something I should not have wrote.

This was just a week and a bit ago.

I was really down and found out that the baby my girlfriend is having is not mine. . . infact it was a "friend" of mines. I was ready to either 1)kill her & him or 2) kill myself over it. But I came to the conclusion that no slut b*tch is worth killing myself over.

Instead of having a massive blowout I decided to write out all my anger and pain. . . and then send her a copy of it!:banghead:

Next day comes I have cops at my door telling me I have restraining orders against me, a tresspassing ordanence filed agaisnt me, and that either I could go with them in the cruiser and go see a psych or I go right away with my parents. They were even threatening to take me to jail right then and there, where I would be held for atleast a week before seeing a judge.

I got in HUGE crap and I could still end up in jail any minute that my ex-girl changes her mind and decides to press charges,

All over one dumb e-mail.:banghead:

I should of just went out back and punched the **** out of a feedbag 'till my rage was gone.

-End dumb story here

Goodluck Rumple!!!

As for me, most of my friends went to a party thing, and got drunk...but i didnt go, just because i know that id make a complete ass of myself, when im drunk

Looks like I'm at your level turbosmoke, or slight above it:D

Althought I rarely drink beer, I'm into vodka-based drinks.

I usually go out on saturdays everyweek and have maybe 4 double hennesseys and lemonade and 4 double vodka red bulls.

I then play football on Sundays and most of the team go for a few pints after but I just have orange

Do I drink alot? it works out to 16 shots but I have a mixer with it that I like to think "dilutes" the alcohol

Stolichnaya.. a bottle a weekend (about) During the week any sort of light beer is nice... cant afford to get drunk and go to class....i discovered Ikon, good stuff. Since I don't get very sick I usually warm up with something a little light maybe 9-12% and then step it up by the end of the night with 80-100 proof. Goood God i love drinkin'

I'm no different.

I'm not fond of the taste, not to mention coke doesn't get you smashed.
