I have a 160Gb ps3. The 2nd gen with the slot drive and sexy blue LEDs.

Right now its at 6Gb free. I'm of the impression that this will maybe last out GT6 and all its updates but no other ps3 games?

Course maker and all the VGTs will probably fill it up assuming I dont buy any more games?

Will I need to clone the drive to a spare 250/320Gb or some such?

Dont know how much the insalation part takes. But so far all the updates that came to the game are around 21GB.
And im sure it will come to 30GB before GT7 is out.

6GB isn't even enough for the base game I don't think...

Just get a cheapy SATA II 2.5" drive (250gb+) and replace your current one.

You can backup your whole system via USB, then restore it from that USB once you've installed your new drive.

Edit: Contrary to popular belief, SSD is next to useless on PS3 'cause SATA III is not supported, don't waste money.

I have a hybrid drive, 500GB "SSHD", but I didn't notice much speed improvement.

I merely got it for more space (It was originally a 40GB fatty) and it's just one less thing that can fail because of age.
