Back in 2004, when my family actually had some money, we went on a Disney cruise. I had gotten my first $100 and was pondering what to spend it on. Finally after some thought I decided to invest the money in a watch, costing me exactly $100.

Ive never worn this watch so it is in complete mint condition. It comes in a detailed case made of some kind of pottery material, I forget what it's called. Finally, I somehow got it signed by the captain of the ship at the time.

How much do you think I could potentially get for this watch if I sold it on ebay?

Depends...
Sell it to the wrong person and you might get what you paid or even less.
However, find a Disney nut and you might be able to double the money.

Just depends on who catches the auction.
I'd say go for it with a hefty reserve, don't want to let it go for less than 120 simply for the sake of shipping and getting your money back.
At the same time, I'd ask for more than 120. :sly:

Put it up at a good price and see if anyone bites. It's true... it'll all depend on who catches the auction. Some people will pay big bucks for stuff they like.

But seriously, you ought to get on a forum full of Mickey-philes to find out what they'd pay for it... car guys aren't really the best assessors of the value of some mouse-branded merchandise.

I'll give ya 10 bucks!

Kidding.

Search for it on eBay, see if there's one already out there. eBay makes a great appraisal service.

Or, if you want to give up the listing fee, put it on eBay with a ridiculous reserve, like $500, and see what bids you get. Consider the listing fee an appraisal fee.

Is the ship still in use? Best bet, wait 'till its decomissioned.

Definitely considering there is only two ships. There might be three because I heard they were working on another one a while ago, but I'm not sure.

It would be a very rare coincidence to find another watch like this on ebay considering it could only be bought on the cruise ship, and in 2004. The signature is also something that adds considerable value that I highly doubt no one else with this watch has.

I could always wait a really long time like I'm doing with my Nascar collectibles. Hell, most of them are probably worth a bunch right now, and they're only from the mid 90s to around 2001.

Going on a Disney forum sounds like the best bet. Luckily for me one of my cousins is a moderator on one of the largest Disney forums out there, so I could probably get him to make a topic.

There are a few on eBay already. But none look the same as yours.

As a watch, it's probably worth no more, perhaps less, then you paid for it. As a collectors item (Disney or even nautical fans) it could be worth more. I'd keep hold of it for now, unless you really need the money, and then sell it when you get older. Hopefully by then the ship has sunk with a massive loss of life and become the next Titanic. It would be worth a small fortune then! ;)

Wow, several thousand fewer Disney fans - it could only be better if it was a Lawyers Only cruise!

I kid, I kid. Sort of.

I'm only a Disney fan because I have 2 kids under the age of 5.

And Pixar.

I used to have 2 kids under 5 as well... that's no excuse. Though I can't say that plenty of my money hasn't gone to the Evil Empire anyway.

And Pixar doesn't count.

In that case, I have no ties to Disney as all of their movies are either Pixar, Dreamworks or assorted other things that I probably shouldn't let them watch yet.

My wife, on the other hand, seems to like the old movies. I say give me The Incredibles any day.

But that is for a different thread.

I would say hold on to it for mabey 10 years. If you keep it in mint condition that long, you would probably be able to sell it for a pretty hefty price.

Watches don't appreciate in value unless they're ultra luxury ones (Rolex, etc.). Watches and other "Cruise ship items" like that are a dime a dozen.

Sell it.

I've got some snowboard stuff that has been signed by top pros that probably wouldn't fetch very much more than 10% over the price of the product on eBay. It doesn't bother me, I keep it and the stuff is that much more special when I use it. If the watch itself doesn't mean anything to you then sell it for probably nothing over cost, otherwise hold onto it for your own little happiness like I do.
