How much longer will we be getting weekly Seasonals and Time Trials?

Here is hoping I don't jinx it or anything but does anyone wonder how much longer we will continue getting these weekly events? I mean GT5 is almost two years old now and GT6 seems ready to be announced.

Only PD know. There will probably still be weekly Seasonals and Time Trials until GT6 comes out.

I dont think its that hard or time-consuming for PD to create those Time Trials, so i am sure they will continue after GT6 comes out :)

Given that it's a seemingly formulaic, computer generated affair, there's no reason why they shouldn't keep coming for as long as they're still running the servers for GT5. I actually believe they have a "random event" generation script to come up with the seasonals, where all PD have to do is feed it either a pp or car type and the computer will randomly pick track, distance, generated circuit and opponent vehicles.

I don't believe that anyone with enough creativity to be part of a creative programming team would leave all that creativity behind and come up with the exact same structure of events time after time, to the degree that we can now predict what class of event we will see the following Thursday.

It takes about five minutes for one guy to put together seasonals, for that matter. All they do is pick a track, pick how many laps, pick restrictions, pick what you win, and post a quick update.

Hello, correct me if I`m wrong, but aren`t the seasonals voluntary?
If you don`t want to do them, just don`t... Some of us like them.

Nobody is saying they aren't voluntary or that they don't like them! The OP is simply asking if the possibility remains for them to stay as a part of the game each week now that GT6 is well under development. :dunce:

GT6 won't be out for another 7 years lol. Dont worry about that ;)

Yeah, that`s called the "Counting your chickens before they hatch" syndrone.
I remember waiting for GT5, and if I had something to focus on, (Prologue), the wait was shorter, do the seasonals and enjoy the wait...:)

They are and I appreciate your feed back but I wasn't complaining about seasonals. Infact I think the Time Trials and Seasonals are a highlight for GT5 as to why someone should buy it, who can say after two years since it's release that their products are still regularly updated or small content for it is created?

Then I hope you`ll accept my apology for taking the question the wrong way and I too hope "WE" didn`t jinx the seasonals.
But if I recollect, GT5 was postponed twice because of program corrections, and we still get updates.

Yes it is a junior developer job, the longer time would be testing to set the g s b times and setting up the database for the times, rankings. Some in house test boys would play around every week with the new seasonal before they set the final parameters. Someone more senior would suggest, hey let's make the Ginetta Superfast in this one, and a few keystrokes would make it so. Since there is no direct ROI to Sony or PD the seasonals are an overhead marketing type effort. Could be cutoff anytime.

Nobody knows, I'd say at the very least another year though.

Every now and again though there is a seasonal linked to real life events (time trial at Cote d'Azur during Monaco weekend and one at La Sarthe during the Le Mans 24 hours). I think they are just a bit lazy. :)

I hope this time when they plan to delete about 10 of them at once, they give us a heads up! Like putting an expiration date on them. We know there seasonal but let us know so we can run then a few times before they're gone.

This. I miss my Supercar Festival and the old Japanese 80's Festival which was easy to win at.

I agree on your first point, the trials are a reason to go back to your PS3 and play GT5 at least once in a week so they are a good feature.
About the regularly updating, as far as I believe to know, Test Drive Unlimited 2 (released 2009) still gets weekly officially hosted trials (like time and speed challenges). But this feature only started some time ago, like end of 2011 or something. I'm not sure on these facts though - I don't bother that game much. And besides this game and GT, I don't know any that get updated that often.
