Just out of curiosity, how much of the information in the Apex book relates to GT5?

Whilst I was installing the game, the book led me to believe that GT5 was significantly different to past GT's, with the in depth discussions, particularly around suspension, braking, tyre deformation and the like, but from what I have seen, they do not appear to be in the game.

Have they been left out for a further update, or where they never included in the first place? Moreover, why discuss things that do not appear in the game in the first place?

Mind Boggeling i tell ya... But yes, i think most of the info in the APEX book has got nothing to do with some or even all of the features in the game. I saw in the book that they can even show you how to drive fast cars with pedal switching around the track.

It basically tells you everything you need to know about how cars work. This knowledge can be applied to GT5, but it isn't a game guide by any means. And it's not supposed to be.

Yea, not really a game guide... Except for the whole section on Photomode, or the big chunk of it being a Car list of all the Cars in the Game, or the Track list with discriptions. Pretty much 50% of the book is Game material plus many In-game pictures mixed in with the real ones. Does have helpful tips on Tuning though... great for telling you how to properly use a LSD or Torque limiter, and goes into great detail about Suspension tuning.

My PAL Apex book only has a photomode section and track index worth 30 pages out of 212.

Thanks for the replies guys. Its a shame that the guide does not apply fully to GT5, those extra suspension settings would add a new dimension to the game. 👍

Screw you for being right!

Regardless, Since GT tries to simulate the real life sport, most of the information goes hand in hand with the Game. If you know nothing about the finer points of racing, it is a great start.

As far as car tuning is concerned, the APEX book has a ton of information on various upgrades. Detailed guides on suspension, transmission, LSD, etc etc etc. I particularly found the suspension tuning information useful (camber, toe, damper, spring rates, ride height). It not only explains what each adjustment does, but why cars behave how they do (understeer/oversteer) and how to counteract negative behavior.
