how often do the viper's pit during the laguna seca endurance race?

I'm in the lead and pulling away very slowly (10 laps in, about 10 seconds between me and 2nd) but my GT350R thinks it is a rally car and I know i'm going to be visiting the pits for tyres more than fuel. Second place is a Viper GTS (I don't know which year but it's the normal looking one, probably the '99) and i'm wondering how often he'll need to pit? 3rd place is a new Camaro but he's pretty heavy so i'm not too worried about him.

I'm lapping 1,39-1,40 with racing hards, engine restoration, air filter, exhaust and a clutch.
 
I think they pit two, max of 3 times.

Why are you using a slow car for this race? If you got to the endurance races you probably have plenty of fast cars to choose from in your garage. I did it with the F1 car just so I could get my trophy. The other cars were down by over 20 laps.
 
Because I want a challenge?

I want the gold and i'm not going to race for 200 miles without coming in first but at the same time I don't want to finish 20 laps in front. Where is the fun in demolishing them all just to save half an hour?

When I go back to grind the indy 500 it'll be a different story though, i'll pick whatever will give me the quickest overall time.

EDIT: If the viper pits 3 times I might just make it, it'll be close though :)
 
Let us know. I'm one of those crazy people like you that gets just good enough of a car to beat the competition.

I've just went into the pits at lap 62, lost 1st to a Corvette but he'll pit again between 80 and 90 so i'll get past him then. It's the closest endurance race I can remember having ever, most of the time I've been less than 30 seconds behind or in front.
 
OK, i've been drinking for the last few hours. Should I attempt the final leg or just leave it until the morn?

I am one of them too BUT I don't think I will do that in an endurance race its too many hours with no save or anything A screw up can mean repeating a 24hours race so better be 50 laps ahead and be safe :P

Finished a little while ago. For some reason most of the other cars went into the pits twice in 3 or 4 laps between 70 and 80 laps. That kinda ruined the close finish I was hoping for but i'll still take the credits and xp thanks :)

The Corvette came in behind me by about 1 1/2 laps.
 
I used a Peugeot 908 HDi FAP... just finished the race around 45mins ago...
I pitted 4 times even thought i probly could go into the pit twice...
I was lapping 1:17.000 and even got into 1:14.000's... It was boring race :crazy: It took me 2 hours, lapped the "viper" 19 times....

I think he would go into the pit once or twice... it's a road car so 200miles shouldn't be that much of a problem, same with tyres - if they're sport hard then he won't need to change more than twice I suppose...

I don't get why he went in twice in a couple of laps though? He went in about a 3rd of the way through the race then twice near the end? Maybe the cars were all bunched up and he was out wide coming up to the last corner and got pushed in? Perhaps it was just him and all the others were a lap or two down so I figured they all went in.

I used the Red Bull X1 and was pushing like crazy to finish before Top gear came on and I somehow managed to get down to a 47 second lap late in the race :D
