I searched and came up empty so here is the question I have always had:

As we know this is a respected video game-related board and just how many users, who work for the gaming industry, possibly PD Japan people and its worldwide representatives come here to do research.

Threads like "what would you like to see in GT5 other than cars" are great reserch materials for these gaming professonals. So I am pretty sure they come here to collect data on demographics as well as gaming trends. It literally saves them thousands of dollars on surveys and other feedback reports towards improving next-gen game developement.

So here is a quick poll, don't worry, you will remain anonymous. :sly:

I get the idea a couple of PD's employees check the various GT boards around the world. Where else would terrible ideas like Vitz Races, 24-hour (un-pausable) enduros, and 40 similar Skylines in a game come from? Surely some people here have brilliant ideas for the GT series that 90% of us hate?

Actually, if anyone from PD's poking around GTPlanet for some insight, I'm 99.9% sure they wouldn't admit it, or else any great idea would constitute a Sony/Polyphony copyright infringment due to intellectual property claims.

Can you see it now?

"Hey, KY...why haven't you ever had a Supra Race? You should include one in GT5."

...and then [username] sues the crap out of Sony, PD, and Mother Earth. It was [username]'s idea, after all (if [username] has a good enough lawyer).
 
I hear you pupik, but doesn't all survey work that way? And the simple act of collective feedback has and would always paly an important role in product development. I don't see that being too different from coming here collecting interesting and maybe more significantly, real world opinions. If conducting surveys is legal, so should this. :)
 
Devs on other games like Swat 4 are on the official Swat 4 forum all the time and they admit some ideas and options were added from advice from the community. They are not worried about lawsuits.
 
I've used this site for research in some way or another for my job...if you can call it that. I can find background on certian real cars fast on here then through Google. Or I just talk to Doug and get every answer I will ever need.

You can bet Sony/PD will cover their rear ends; they won't come to a GT website just admit they have actual input towards the next GT game. It's really a ludicrous idea to believe anyone who would admit that they are part of PD/Sony/etc.

If (and that's a big "if") they do visit, I'd wager that they don't post a thing nor would even register. (Athough Phil Frank Design seemed to be very admitting of the Nike One '22, so maybe there's an excpetion.)

P.S. i work for pd and program grand turismo. i get to drive the cars in r/l. (Incredibly plausable, right?)

Now I think about it. They probably won't come in here. Silly me but the hack with it, it's more of a discussion for us than to have them admit they visit GTP. :dopey:
 
They are definitely browsing, as I have been contacted by them before about material posted on the site.

Good to see that they are at least browsing the forums.

The guys from Valve were fairly regular posters on some HL2 boards leading up to the release of HL2. Gabe Newell even made a few announcements using fan forums. It's always good for the devs to be connected to the community, since not only do they get feedback and ideas from their customers, but it also at least gives the impression that they care about the satisfaction of their customers (Any good game dev would deeply care about this).

No, four at the time of this post. :) I didn't vote there if you're wondering...

Sony have told me that they have visited/are aware of the GTSC, but i've never had any direct feedback from them unfortunately. :(

EDIT: Got broadband now and it is too quick!! :D
