My grandfather figured I ought to know to drive when I was 14 (he thought I was 15, but I wasn't going to argue with him ) My grandparents lived in a retirement community with lots of wide, winding roads and relatively no traffic on them on a Sunday morning. He figured I wouldn't drive any worse than the people who lived there, and had been driving for 50+ years than I had! It was a beige 1985 Ford Escort wagon. I don't recall going above 15mph, though.
When I was 12, my dad let me start-up the 5-speed 'Stang GT in the mornings. I used to show-off, right infront of my bus stop, like a fool. But I had to wait until I was 18 to actually drive stick, on a '90 Integra GS-R.
