I am planning on ordering the logitech g27 wheel for GT5. I was curious if GT5 will support the clutch features along with the manual gearbox? If so, how realistic is it compared to real life? Is it the exact same thing as driving a manual shift car? Can I make the car stall if i don't give the car enough gas while letting off the clutch, etc?

Also when viewing replays of you driving in auto vs manual, will you be able to tell from listening to the exhaust and engine that you're driving in manual or auto? Cause in real life you can tell the difference by just hearing the car.

From experience with a G25 and GT5P, its as close as you can get but it will still feel like a game. Mind you this is far more immersive than a PS controller.

No you cannot stall. The clutch really is just on or off, you do not need to get the friction point or bite (nor can you feel it) in the clutch. Its no where near to driving the manual again as you do not get the bite, and pretty much almost every shift will be perfect as long as you don't get caught with a bad gear shift. If you shift too quickly without depressing the clutch you'll end up in neutral, so there is that to look out for. From GT5P I highly doubt you can hear the difference in engine noise from MT vs AT, although I personally NEVER drive auto, why would you?

If you are thinking of learning how to drive MT through GT5 and a G27, forget it. Instead learn from a real car.

The closest to AT I'll go is with the paddle shifters to keep in tradition with the primary feature of a specific car, say a F430 or GT-R. Actually honestly the engine sounds are quite weak say versus Forza 3. Good god hearing the V12 Vantage or MB AMG C63 roar with its 6 litre engine is something in Forza 3. Investing in $600 Sennheisers to listen to that is just magical.

If you're getting a high caliber wheel, then start planning on your setup rig. It doesn't have to be expensive or lavish, just sturdy and durable for serious driving.

The clutch is not on or off in a G27. You can't stall but you can slip the clutch from take off nicely to the point of sounding like my girlfriend doing a hill start and you can easily tell in replay that you're driving with a clutch.

Buy it, it's fantastic 👍

Thanks guys! Anes, thats pretty amazing then. I look forward to getting my wheel and playseat then. Also with the g27 wheel when you turn and let off the wheel with your hands will it automatically spin back like on a real car?

Yes it will. It's a great drifting wheel too. Behaves how a real wheel should. The force feed back is a little weak on GT5prologue but it will be fully compatible with GT5.
