The car in which Jacqueline travelled. She was hit by another car that was driven by a 17-year old male student on his way home after a couple of drinks with his friends. This was in December 1999.

After the accident Jacqueline has needed over 40 operations.

Jacqueline was caught in the burning car and her body was heavily burnt during around 45 seconds.

Now 20 year old, he cannot forgive himself for driving drunk on that night three years ago.
He's aware of devastating Jaqcueline Saburido's life.

Not everyone who gets hit with a car dies. This picture was taken 4 years after the accident and the doctors are still working on Jacqueline, who's body was over 60% burned.

Just think of the stories she can tell now, though. How, it doesn't pay to drink. If I were that other guy, I would rather be dead. Forgiveness feels good, but will never release all the pain that guy should have. He will always be in debt to that poor young lady. He ruined her life, just so he could have a drink. I would say a comment, but it's a swear, so imagine it.

This is the exact reason why I would never drink and drive. Maybe this kind of advert should be shown on T.V, then maybe people will get the message.

Unfortunately, broadcasting companies probably won't air something of this nature, because it is too "graphic" for little children. I do have to agree that it is a valuable lesson that all kids should know, but I still doubt the broadcasting companies.

Yes they will. I saw this woman on Oprah and the mother of the man who hit her was on there. I didn't watch the whole thing. Too depressing.

Post a warning in the title if you are going to include graphic images like this.

That is horrible. :(

When I looked at this thread this morning before school, I immediatly closed the browser as soon as I saw the first half of the first picture. Scared the hell out of me. :nervous:

They frequently air commercials featuring Jacqueline in Texas. Her strength is amazing... and the guy who hit her is the typical scum-of-the-earth, drunk-driving idiot in a lifted Tahoe that unfortunately is all too prevalent on our roads.

They can't show stuff like this, but they'll still show beer and alcohol commercials. :odd: I feel so sorry for her. Sad indeed.:(

This happened in Texas? Big shock. It's against the law to drive sober in Texas, so it seems.

My brother-in-law never knew his father when he was groing up. Now, married to my sister and doing well, he decided to use one of those friend search internet web sites to try to find his dad. He found him in Texas. The whole family drove out to visit him. They had a great time, meeting a new brother, the whole nine yards.

My brother-in-law was going to be in Texas a few weeks later on business and was going to pay him a visit. Two days before he flew out, his new found dad was killed by a drunk driver. The drunk driver did six months in jail. It was his third drunk driving arrest, and his first conviction.

The only thing worse than a drunk driver is the bastard who fights for his freedom.

generally thats a court appointed attorney who probably hates the guy as much as you do and has no choice in the matter. I seriously think that drunk driving should have greater consequences.

Thats tragic. Makes you sick to the pit of your stomach. Must be equally terrible for a parent to see that happen to a child :(

I have a question...Where did her fingers go? Did the heat burn her fingers so bad..that..when they healed... the fingers all joined together to form a paw of some sort?

No, drunk drivers usually get a private attorney. The attorneys that are involved with defending drunk drivers are very specialized. They know everything about the testing and arresting process, and are really good at wearing down a judge. They could get the most obvious drunk driver off. Since there is a good chance of getting off, judges usually allow a guilty plea for a very reduced sentence. This needs to stop. First off, we should take their car away and sell it. We do this to Johns, so why not drunks?

That is so horrible. I don't know how she could continue living like that, but I envy her for that kind of strength of character. I really can't describe how I feel right now after reading it, I guess it hasn't really set in yet...

well the ones that can afford private attorneys get them... Is it possible for a judge not to give a reduced sentence? I mean after all if he was put in jail in the first place for DUI then he IS guilty anyway so I'd give him the same sentence no matter what.

I cant imagine the guilt that guy must feel for hitting her. I remember one night when my freinds brother ran away. When they found him they gave him feel really guilty because they told him that because they were busy looking for him, they werent out looking for drunk drivers and one of those drunk drivers hit and killed a lady who had 2 kids.

Driving drunk should carry the same sentence at attempted murder becasue thats what it is.

I think the tips of he fingers are mostly gone, that paw is her hand and what remained of her fingers fused together, as you can see in the last picture, they have unfused some of the fingers but it's still more like only having 1/3 of your finger.
