Got my wheel and shifter today .. Tried the wheel first without plugging the shifter and it really makes huge difference compared to my G27 ..

However when i plugged my shifter , it didn't work !! So I said sure there is like a calibration or installation thing that i have to do before plugging it directly whilte playing .. so i read the manual .. nothing listed to do with the shifter all i have to do is plug and play !! So am i missing something here or what!? I fallowed the instructions listed here (from ts.thrustmaster.com):

On PlayStation®3, the TH8 RS shifter is compatible with:

- GRAN TURISMO® 5 (*)

(*) The latest available game updates must be installed (using your PlayStation®3 Internet connection) for the Thrustmaster shifter to work correctly.
(*) Compatible only with the T500 RS
(*) Compatible only with the H-pattern (7+1) shift plate
(*) Compatible only with one TH8 RS, even in 2 player mode
(*) “Manual Clutch” is enabled as soon as you press the clutch pedal while driving (each time you shift gears with the TH8 RS, you must then press the clutch pedal at least 2/3 of the way down its physical range of travel).
(*)“Automatic Clutch” is enabled if you never press the clutch pedal while driving, or if you use the sequential paddle shifters on the T500 RS.

- Compatible with many forthcoming releases

Notes:

On PlayStation®3, when using the Thrustmaster shifter with the T500 RS racing wheel, we recommend that you connect both devices (the racing wheel in particular) directly to your PlayStation®3's USB port. However, if you are using a USB hub, connect the T500 RS racing wheel to the PlayStation®3 and the TH8 RS to the hub.

but still am facing the same problem , neither the shifter or the clutch pedal is working !!!

Hello.:)Software update, and calibration on a PC. Then plug and play.If you use a PS3 dont use HUB plug it straight to PS3.

Updated it .. Still not working !! I discovered something weird in the properties menu , It recognizes the shifter as on the sequential mode all the time even if it's in H pattern mode is that a problem ??

Anyway am going to exchange the product in the morning , but still i need to know from you guys , maybe am missing something .. !

Well, there's your problem.
It is staying on sequential which doesn't work on PS3 iirc, so it's not beeing recognized.

My humble opinion is that it's a faulty product.

You could hook it up to PC and take the shifter plate of, then try pushing the button with a pencil or something and see if the shifter starts to behave differently or if the button is either stuck or broken. You'll know for yourself what to do if it's broken. Which would suck, but so you see that not every product is perfect. Not one from Trustmaster, Fanatec or Logitech. Everywhere there are bad apples within the batches they produce.

Good luck in getting this fixed one way or another. It is a great shifter so I hope you do soon so you can enjoy it properly.

went to the local shop and changed it with new one .. And I just tried it .. Thanks god everything is perfect now .. It was the shifter , it stays in Sequential all the time thats why i think it wasn't working .. Thanks guys appreciated your help

few quick pics for you guys ..

Looks great! Having seen lots of CSR-E pics lately i've just realised how much nicer the T500 rim looks compared to the plastic of the CSR-E. Add the long throw shifter and the whole setup looks the business.

I have same problem!!!
Got it and even my PC doesn't recognize it!
It's been since long time that i didn't try to fix it because it doesn't work, but now i absolutely want to play with it!!!
I destroy the packaging, so no way of return!
Do I have any chance to try it?!

Codename - try what Logiforce has suggested in his post.

If that doesn't resolve the problem e-mail Thrustmaster customer support.

If the PC doesn't recognize it, try a different USB port. Maybe even the USB 3.0 port. You should here the typical Windows sound when a USB device gets connected.
If it still doesn't get recognized at all than something is wrong with the electronics board. As long as you have the receipt than you can contact TM and have the shifter replaced.
