How to back-up save games and import them back?

I don't want to corrupt my save so can anyone tell me if this is right

1. back-up game on usb
*i want to use that save again a few weeks later*
2. copy from usb to ps3 (game data)
3. overwrite and save

i'm not too sure though, thanks for the help.
 
yes (to be precise, i think the first step is to create a savegame from for example GT5 then copy it to usb) Just visit the USB drive from the XMB menu then and copy it to the PS3 (overwrite = yes) any time you need it.
