Last night I watched a fantastic documentary on the BBC about the design and (mostly) production of the McLaren MP4-12C.

Anyone who's interested in cars and motorsport is surely going to be very interested in this, I assume you are if you're in a automotive sub-forum...

So yeah, here's the link, not sure if people in other countries can watch it as it's on the BBC iPlayer but people in the UK definitely can.

Enjoy!!

I watched that too, it was quite interesting.

When Clarkson reviewed that car on Top Gear, he showed the factory and said it was too clean and clinical and that is why (he thinks) the car has no heart. Or something along those lines.

Oh yeah I do remember that. In the documentary they said they only do things if the can realistically be the best in the world, I wonder how it did on TTGT....

After some quick wiki'ing it seems to be second, with 1:16.2 behind the Ariel Atom V8 500 (1:15.1).
That Ariel is such a unusual piece of engineering IMO... I'd say the 12C did quite well :sly:

Clarkson hates cars because the clouds above them are the wrong shape or because they aren't British enough or his morning coffee was the wrong color. The McLaren factory is first rate and so is their car.

You don't build fun cars by acting like a bunch of primitives and making loud noises all day. You make a good car by giving your heart to it and making it work well.

I wish iPlayer worked in America.
*goes off to watch the same Top Gear DVD for the millionth time*

I believe you could make the UK iPlayer work by using the greasemonkey add-on for Firefox. I found it on Finalgear.com and used it to watch some online only clips.
