Hello.

Yesterday I downloaded pc2 again and I started a career mode in Formula Renault 3.5.
On lap three, the spotter says something about rain comin in and they let me know if I should change tires, ok.
So on lap 4 he says I should change to rain tires, but also he says I have to do something to change tires? I just drove into pit, but they didnt change to rain tires, they just change to slicks...

I tried one more time, but now I didnt go into pits before lap 5, and now they did change to rain tires?

Do I need to press something to change tires?

Before the race you can set a pit strategy. Everyone seems to screw that up though. But while you’re driving, you can use the in car menu and you can adjust your fuel and tires. It was the up button on my dpad, then race strategy from there. Something like that.
You might have to map it, but im pretty sure its up on the dpad originally.

Thank you, yes, its mapped up on my wheel, but u dont press x for enter? u press the right button for enter, right? haha
But you only use pit strategy if you know its gonna be rain in the race after its dried, right? sorry my bad english

Really like the handling model in project cars on some cars.

If the race isn't long enough to require a pit stop, you can set up your strategy to use wets so it will be ready if it does rain. I usually just do it manually if he says it will rain, once you've done it a couple times it doesn't take very long. At least once I have seen it switch back to slicks after I was sure I set it to wets though, so I always check it right before I come in.

I see :) This race is 12 laps or so, and I know its gonna rain after lap 4, so than I cant just go to pit strategy and choose rain tires when I come into pits?

If I dont do it this way, I can while im in race press up button, go down to pit strategy, select tires for pit, and then press right?

Hope I will figure it out when I come home.

I am on a wheel and using the ICM always causes me to lose concentration and run off the track.

So, I have followed the advice like a previous poster gave you and I always have a pit strategy for wets only. That's actually the name I use for it.

I also just make it the new defaulted strategy for all short races. I edit the fuel to zero so I only get the tires and it's a quick in quick out.

If you set it to default you don't even have to touch the ICM in game. Just go into the pits and that's what you'll get.

There is one thing I do before I go in the pits, though. I always "request pit stop". I don't know if it's necessary but I like getting them ready

Using game menus during a fast race is like texting and driving... Not going to end well! Like others have said making the default wet before the race will work. A cheap solution is to actually START on wets... Will lose a few seconds as you burn rubber at start of race so don't drive too wild but won't need to pit at all... I feel somewhat dirty for suggesting that though!

Lol. I've done that before Sloppy and I hated myself for it. I'm a big pit stop guy so I decided I'd never do that again.

I'm always looking for ways to force more pit stops in endurance races but it's hard to do. PC2 needs sliders for 4X, 5X, ...10X tire wear and fuel consumption

One thing many people miss when creating pit strategies, is that you have to set it to "All", not "Recommended" in the settings.

In pit stop strategy menu (before the race):
Under Fuel & Tyres Setup -> Change Tyres, set it to All. If you set it to Recommended, it will only change the tyres if they are all worn out.
Save the strategy with a clear name, for example Wets only, then doublecheck via ICM menu in the car, that the correct strategy is selected.

Surprised there’s not an option for voice controlled pit requests. Understand this could be problematic for online racing, but even NASCAR 06 ‘Total Team Control’ had (albeit basic) voice interactive pit controls way back on PS2.

Otherwise the ICM menu is decent but not ideal. ‘Texting and driving’ sums it up well.

Pro tip. Setting the fuel to 1L is slightly quicker than setting it to zero.

Edit - apparently no longer true.

It used to be quicker indeed, but not anymore, after the final patch. Now it is usually faster to fix 1% of damage (if you happen to have that), than doing nothing, otherwise doing nothing is the fastest.
