wsup guys. im new to the forum, but not to the game. ive been playing a long time, and i developed a nice grip-drift technique. just wondering though, i saw some videos at the main page, and i must say those are some very nice drifts. how do you do those? are there certain settings? because i usually leave the car stock, except for suspension. what type or tires are needed?

my drifts are more like grip with skreacthing tires, and not much smoke. thats the fastest way i go around corners.

Drifting + no smoke + no countersteer = Four Wheel Drift :D

Welcome to GTPlanet.net Forums. If you would like to look at the top of the forum, there are many threads that are offered to the new members on how to drift and how to setup their cars. If you can look there, then most of your questions can be answered :)

yeaaa.. most of the time when i race, i can hear my tires screatching, tires dont smoke a lot, and i dont even have to steer(or countersteer) through the corner. i just let the momentum drag it along. tahts a 4 wheel drift?

Hey i speed drift, i got little smokes and can also make my car turn sideways, oh but you're using stock cars, maybe you should try the sim tire drift settings, its good for stock, good luck on your drifting

Jeez everybody has a drift guide these days huh? Maybe I should just abandon mine after all. Anyway, I agree with battle_stage that the only qualification for 4-wheel drifting is that all four wheels are sliding. If you can do that while staying on the correct line, kap, then you should have no trouble with our 2-wheel style, because to be honest your style is much more difficult. For 2-wheel style, approach the corner just a tad bit slower and jerk the weight around a little harder, and you'll also probably have to use more throttle than you would with 4-wheel drifting. That should get you headed in the right direction. Don't forget to countersteer too :) With 2-wheel drifting you don't actually need to put much force on the steering wheel, it will generally have a 'happy spot' where it likes to stay and you should generally leave it there except during entrance/transfer/exits of drifts. I will often let go of the wheel during transfers so there's less of a chance of me screwing it up accidentally. I think letting go of the wheel will be more common with the new GT4 wheel that has 900° of rotation, because in real life I will let go even for a mild exit whereas in GT3 there's no need.

Thx, but I wouldn't really be happy with a guide unless it was complete, and a complete guide would take forever to write. Maybe I'll do it when I have a little more time on my hands...

i hate when people ask this damn question!! I learned all by myself, it isn't that hard. You need to practice though, some people think they can just Turn on their PS2 and be able to drift. It took me a good month to learn how to drift. Watch a damn video and u'll see how to drift. Make ur own style and don't copy others...

I learned on my own too. Way back in the day... I was already into drifting and knew it wasn't easy, and knew it wasn't gonna be easy in GT3. So I practiced, practiced, practiced, then practiced some more. It took me a very long time to get good. I've been drifting in GT3 since 2000 or early 2001. I used to drift for hours every day. Just drifting only. I never raced. Now all I do is race. I barely drift anymore. But my skill is higher than it's ever been.
If I were to practice now as much as I did before, I'd be an absolute weapon. And right now I consider myself an expert.
