How to fix DFP Table Clamp?

I ended up letting a couple of friends use my DFP, and they kept pulling it off of the table because they're slightly stupid. So, I thought I'd just screw it on really tightly and solve the problem.

I get out the pliers, position it on the table, screw it further, feel it tightening, keep going, and... CRAACK!

Now the left clamp is broken, and the right clamp has too much demand being placed on it. Is there a way to fix the DFP's clamps? I really don't want to have to use tape...

EDIT: I figured out what I've done I screwed it on too tightly (duh), and one of the tabs slipped off of the threads of the screw and jumped to the next one and now the thing is just cross-threaded. No more, no less. It seems like an easy fix, but I've still got one question: Is it actually an easy fix? In other words, will I take my DFP apart and find that it won't go back together easily? Will I have trouble taking my DFP apart at all? How many screws should I be looking for before I pull the two halves of the unit apart? Do I have to pry the thing apart, or should it detatch naturally?

Any help, any at all, would be truly appreciated. With my ancient, $20 cell phone, I had no problem simply owning the thing and figuring out how it all worked (on a whim, no less!), but this wheel is much newer, much shinier, and much pricier than that phone, so I don't want to make a mistake with it. I've already had to stop using my old DS2 after finding out that it's very, very difficult to reassemble. I've looked, but I can't find any information on this problem, most likely because it's such a simple one. Either way, please help, as I'm basically clueless, and temporarily wheel-less as well.

As I'll most likely be cracking mine open soon, I'll tell you when I do how it comes apart/goes back together unless someone trees me.
