i have read somewhere that you can get the skylines to 900 almost 1000hp i just bought the mines base 1 06* model and i cant get anything near this i have got 620 right now and only thing i could put in was a bigger turbo

im level 19

is there something i need to do i read somewhere that the engine breaks in between 500km to 1000km could this be the problem i cant install all upgrades or do i have to be a higher level

i really am puzzled as 620bhp seems a little low for the skyline and im wanting a monster to lap the ring so have i bought the wrong skyline or will i have to wait till i can put all the parts in.

thanks:tup:

what do you mean by wait til u can put all the parts?
what cant u put? i remember i put complete parts on r35 when i was able to get the r35.. try buying the road car skylines..
add me up

I think you should try standard models of the Skyline GTR... not a tuner model.... I have a Premium R32, R34 and GTR Spec-V.... And they do 650 BHP, 797 BHP and 859 BHP respectively fully tuned.... R32 is not totally broken in yet... niether is the GTR Spec-V so Im expecting more from them... 👍

IMO its still a load of bollocks as to how much power cars can have, given there are many 1,000 hp+ Skylines around the world.

Also goes for other cars, there's plenty 500 hp+ EVO's etc (two or three in the city i live in) getting around - but alas, this subject has likely been done to death already. I just wish Polyphony would listen to us (don't give me that 'they read these forums though' line please) because me being such a die hard GT fan most of my gaming life, i'm ever so slightly getting towards losing that fanboyism. Even have a decent sized GT site that hasn't been updated in about four years now (thats mainly cos i've had not much interest in it/no internet access though, but still). www.gtseriescenter.com

*sigh*

Luckily the game still has enough good points to keep me playing it over Forza, but come on PD - we're the people who keep you employed, LISTEN.

I actually doubt they read these forums... but I wouldn't be surprised if the Japanese forums were alight with the same complaints. :D

you think Japanese people complain as much as white people??? hell nawwwww

If they wanted 1000+ hp skylines they would have also included top secret cars in the game. Kinda wish they did. But yeah to get that kind of hp gains in a GT game would mean variable tuning in the turbo pressure, ECU mapping, and fuel injectors just to start. If they broke down the engine stage upgrade components to actual engine parts with different specs then you could really pump out those high hp gains.

I am kinda bummed they don't allow turbo kits on some of the cars that have aftermarket turbo kits irl. Was hoping to build a turbo e46 m3 :(

Hmmm, that comment makes me slightly uncomfortable...

OT: I'm surprised to find that GT5 (while still an EXCELLENT game) seems to be missing the slightly car-nerdy edge of its predecessors. We'll have to see what patching brings... but I think patches will be more feature-based than car-performance-based.

What? There are white people in here? Where? (looks at self) Don't see any.

I'm sure there are some fanboys complaining about it in Japan... but truthfully, it's difficult to tell when and where to stop with how much power you allow, tuning-wise, when specifying upgrade paths in video games.

Because, truthfully... the sky is the limit. If you've got the money, you can have 700+ hp Evolutions (with nearly completely bespoke engines), 1000 hp Skylines, or near-2,000 hp Supras. Or even 1,500 hp turbocharged 1.5 liter engines with a useable lifespan of about two hours. If you've got near-infinite money... which is a given... this is GT... then you can do it. Which would make the game very boring after a few hours.

So they pick a number that's doable, durable (not "durable" in the sense that tuners use it... which means it can idle along to the dyno or the strip at half-boost... do a run... and idle back... if it hasn't popped a gasket/piston-ring/piston/turbine/whatever at peak power) and affordable and stick with that. Sucks if your car is under-rated compared to what it can do in real life (assuming your car can do 1000 hp over the course of a 24 hour endurance race without popping a gasket/piston-ring/blah-blah-blah), but them's the breaks.

This.

I also would like to see some in-depth car tuning, It would further put your car apart from whoever else has the same car as you, also there has to be downsides, to prevent those from just maxing the power output, requiring a balance to tackle most track circumstances..👍

The context of the use of the word fanboy here is entirely different obviously. You are just being a pedant at the moment. The post you quoted does not mean the word fanboy can not be uttered.

Actually if you read the thread linked to, I asked exactly that and it explained there is no contexxt in which it's not an insult.

Baring any clarification from the moderation to that direct question it would seem that is exactly what it means. I agree there is a difference, but no such allotment was made when the rule was blanket laid down and I even asked directly for clarification on it. A user actually got a ban for using the term "hard core fan" to refer to that exact group of people which the name implies.

It's been made quite clear in the past that it doesn't matter what you think the rule should be, it's what the mods say and don't go reading anything into them that isn't made clear by a mod.

Fine.

I think I will continue using common sense thanks.

I would like to also, but problem is if your common sense differs from a moderators, they have a ban button and you don't.

I only brought it up here because I thought the rule was poorly put forth originally and a bad blanket statement, however since the mods weren't willing to clarify the common sense part, we are left erring on the side of safety.

Now it seems pertinant t ask again. After all in the very example scaff gave, the useage was not much different than here.

My last comment on this as it is particularly off topic and should be in one of the site suggestions thread, I think the important line fromScaff is this one:

You will not behave in an abusive and/or hateful manner, and will not harrass, threaten, nor attack.

That is the basis from which to take his point.

When used above it did none of these things.

What happened to that "no comments like 'fanboys'" rule that actually got some people temp banned?

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=4173228&highlight=fanboy#post4173228

When hurled as an insult at another member, in a manner that colors his or her personage and aims to discredit his/her views, yes it can be considered an insult.

In this case, it was not meant as an insult or an attack on a particular group of people, but as an illustrative. Replace "fanboy" with "enthusiast" or "car-nerd" and the meaning of the post is still the same.

I recently gave out a temporary infraction for the word "liar", used as an insult by one member in relation to another member.

Now, the word "liar" by itself is not problematic, but the context in which it was used, as a throwaway insult, was problematic. The usage did not add anything positive to the thread or move the discussion, and served solely to raise the insultee's hackles. After the warning, the two cooled down and it ended quite amicably, thankfully. ;)

It's plain common sense. If you're using the word to take a jab at the other guy, it's an insult. If you aren't, it isn't. Scaff already said he used your post as an illustration and that it wasn't the one he considered abusive.

If you feel my post was problematic or hostile, you can report it, if you like, or create a topic in feedback asking for further clarification or deliberation on the matter. But let's not clutter up this thread any further with off-topic material with no tangential relation to the original topic.. Thank you.

Could'nt agree more mate, the thing I don't like about tuning is that you cant add a turbo / supercharger to many of the NA cars in GT5, like for example the honda nsx type r, can only be tuned to round 450 bhp for something like that because you can't add a turbo or sc, ive seen videos of them with added turbos and they look rapid ;)

Well sit down and think about this... they have to draw the line somewhere... i mean ANY car and pretty much make ANY power with mods...

in real life look at a 03 mustang cobra... or a twin turbo viper... etc etc

they have to keep the game somewhat unrealistic for playing terms... if you could buy a $40,000 evo and mod it to 1000 hp what would be the reason to get a GT-R or anything else in the game? they are doing it to help the "step process"
